Benefits Associated with this Position * Life Insurance: The coverage amount is based on two and one-half times appointment salary rounded up to the next whole thousand with a maximum coverage of $100,000 and includes the same amount of Accidental Death and Dismemberment benefits. The University currently pays the entire cost of coverage. * Medical, Dental and Prescription Drug Coverage: The cost of coverage is shared between employees and the University. Job Summary/Basic Function The School of Criminology and Security Studies (SCSS) at Indiana State University welcomes applications for two (2) tenure-track positions at the rank of assistant professor in its Cybercriminology and Security Studies program. Specific Responsibilities There are two positions available. For the first position, the successful candidate will principally teach courses related to computer hardware/software, computer networks, digital forensics, and/or security and risk. For the second position, the successful candidate may focus more on courses related to cybercrime, the human factor of cybercrime, and digital forensics. Individuals with expertise in both specialties will be considered for both positions. The successful candidates for both positions will also have the ability to develop new courses and will be able to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as teach in both on-campus and distance formats. The typical teaching load for faculty members who remain productive scholars is 3 courses per semester. Summer teaching opportunities are also possible for those who are interested. The University currently pays the entire cost of coverage. * Medical, Dental and Prescription Drug Coverage: The cost of coverage is shared between employees and the University. Rates are determined by participation in Wellness Program and use of tobacco products. Coverage is available on the first of the month following appointment date. * TIAA Retirement Contributions: Contributions begin based upon the first day of employment at a contribution rate of ten (10) percent of base appointment salary paid in full by ISU. The contributions are vested immediately. There are 40 investment options from which to choose. * TIAA Auto Enroll: New employees are automatically enrolled in a tax deferred retirement program at hire: three (3) percent is deducted before taxes for the program to facilitate retirement planning. Employees may opt out of the program within 90 days. * Long Term Disability Coverage: Employees are eligible after three (3) years of continuous, regular employment with the University. This policy guarantees approved disabled employees a 66 2/3 percent income protection (from all sources) after 180 days of continuous total disability. Job Summary/Basic Function We are seeking an innovative, energetic, and collaborative colleague who is committed to excellence in both scholarship and teaching. Candidates must have a and will be expected to develop a vibrant research program to address questions in plant taxonomy, plant ecology, plant physiology, plant or agricultural genetics, plant cell or developmental biology, plant population genetics, horticulture, or plant-insect interactions. Postdoctoral and teaching experience is preferred. While the successful candidate will be provided with a startup package to initially support their research, including laboratory resources commensurate with individual research needs, they will be expected to secure adequate funding subsequently to maintain a quality research program and direct undergraduate and graduate research. Specific Responsibilities The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Biology and Plant Biology/Botany. They are likely to be assigned to teach introductory level Biology courses for both majors (e.g. BIO 101 - Principles of Biology I or BIO 102 - Principles of Biology II) and non-majors (e.g. BIO 112 - Human Aspects of Biology) in addition to higher level elective and graduate courses in their area of specialization. While a number of Plant Biology courses already exist (e.g. BIO 113 - A Survey of the Plant Kingdom, BIO 427/527 - Plant Taxonomy, BIO 437 - Plant Physiology, BIO 445 - Plant Anatomy, BIO 447 - Comparative Morphology of Vascular Plants, BIO 637 - Advanced Plant Physiology , and BIO 647 - Experimental Morphogenesis of Vascular Plants), there will be opportunities for the successful candidate to develop specific Plant Biology courses to replace/combine several of these existing courses.
