Grigg Endowed Professorship The School of Education at Johns Hopkins University (************************** invites nominations and applications for the position of the Grigg Endowed Professor at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank. The School of Education
Johns Hopkins University has prepared education leaders for over 100 years. The School of Education (SOE) took its current form in 2007. SOE's mission is to generate knowledge that informs policy and practice and educates society to address the most important challenges faced by individuals, schools, and communities. Despite being less than 20 years old, the School's research capacity has grown rapidly. The role
The Grigg Professor will join the School of Education and the broader University at an exciting time where both the School and University are poised to make even more important contributions in the education policy space. The Grigg Professorship
The Grigg Professorship, the School's first endowed position, is named in honor of the late Jeffrey Alexander Grigg, an assistant professor and noted education researcher beloved in the SOE community. The Grigg Professorship was endowed by Jeffrey Grigg's father, Douglas Grigg, and an anonymous donor with the express purpose of recruiting, retaining, and/or recognizing a School of Education faculty member whose primary focus is research. The endowment is currently valued at approximately $2M. The annual distribution from it underwrites research and provides salary support for the Grigg Professor.
Qualifications and appointment terms
Candidates considered for the Grigg Professorship will be scholars who bring vision, and a demonstrated record of productivity and creativity to conducting policy-relevant education research. The successful candidate will have credentials that merit appointment as an assistant or associate professor. The Grigg Professor may be based in D.C. or Baltimore and will sustain significant in-person presence in the School and the larger university.
The School of Education is particularly interested in applications from scholars with broad perspectives on education policy and/or educational pluralism and research on the role of governments, markets, and private actors. Candidates should use rigorous quantitative research methods to inform their scholarship. Appointment Terms
The Grigg Professorship is a full-time faculty position with nine months of salary plus the opportunity to cover summer salary from endowment, grants, and other sources. The budgeted nine-month salary range for the role, depending on qualifications, rank, and experience, is $140,009 - $214,580. The tenure home is likely to be the department of Counseling & Educational Studies. Depending on the appointee's credentials, a cross-appointment in another Hopkins academic division will be possible. Participation in centers or institutes within the School of Education and beyond is also welcome.

Architectural Engineering Technology is a degree program for highly energetic and talented students with the goal of becoming future architects. The AAS degree in Architectural Engineering is a unique program model which provides the knowledge and skills students need to obtain entry level positions within the industry and/or transition into a 4-year degree program.
Classes are scheduled to meet the needs of students. Adjunct faculty are employed to teach up to 11 credit hours in the fall and spring semesters and/or up to 8 credit hours during the summer session. Teaching load is based upon student enrollment and staffing needs. Instruction may be during the day, evening, or weekend.
The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academic judgement and shall be determined at Management's sole discretion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Must teach all assigned classes and hours as determined by the semester course schedule.

Responsibilities
* Teach six courses per academic year (3-3 load) as assigned by the Department Chair in Economics and Business Administration, including the courses listed above and additional electives that align with the candidate's expertise.
* Coordinate, plan and create syllabi for courses assigned at the lower, intermediate, and advanced levels.
* Evaluate student progress towards specified course objectives and provide timely feedback.

Job Description
The Council for Court Excellence (CCE) is now accepting applications for the 2026-27 Open Horizon Criminal Justice Fellowship. Funded in part by a generous donation from the Open Horizon Foundation, the fellowship offers a recent law school graduate the opportunity to work for one year with CCE on local criminal justice focused research, policy advocacy, and educational initiatives in Washington, D.C.
This fellowship is open to individuals who have graduated with a Juris Doctor within the last two years or will graduate with a JD this academic year; it will begin on or around August 31, 2026, and end in late August 2027.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Open Horizon Fellow works closely with CCE staff, committee members, directly impacted members of the community, and other justice system stakeholders to implement research projects, policy solutions, and educational initiatives to improve the fairness and performance of D.C.'s legal systems. Projects may include advocacy and analysis around building a new D.C. jail; work to pilot test different prearrest diversion methods; policymaking around reentry employment support for returning citizens; providing policy guidance on the impacts of the federal government on D.C.'s local legal systems; and inclusive policy for those with disabilities interacting with criminal legal system. The Fellow may also support some of CCE's work in the civil and youth justice portfolios.
Key responsibilities include:
Conducting research, writing, and editing a variety of publications, memos, external and internal communications (~40% of the fellow's time)
Assisting with identifying, developing, and implementing projects, policy solutions, and educational projects, including tracking and analyzing legislation, proposed regulations, and other agency or court decision-making; and attending hearings, briefings, and other events (~30%)
Assist with management of CCE Committees and participate in relevant coalitions (~25%)
Administrative and other duties (~5%)
Qualifications
The Criminal Justice Fellowship is open to individuals who have graduated with a Juris Doctor within the last two (2) years or who will graduate with a JD during the current academic year, with preference given to those from historically underrepresented groups in the legal professions, with lived justice system experience, and/or who grew up in Washington, D.C.
A successful candidate will be self-motivated with demonstrated time management and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines. They will have good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain law, data, and policy for different audiences verbally and in writing. They will have good interpersonal skills, able to engage professionally with diverse constituencies, including lawyers, judges, government officials, people directly affected by the legal system, and others. They will have a "team player" mindset and be ready and willing to pitch in with a wide array of projects across the organization. Finally, they will have a commitment to contributing to an inclusive, respectful working environment and a willingness to continue to learn about diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
CCE follows a hybrid work model which requires some in person work at the office or attending events, so successful candidates are expected to live in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate courses in Violin performance.
Maintain current knowledge of instructional methods pertinent to areas of assignment.
Provide students an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies in line with those of the institution, assignments, timelines and evaluation criteria.
Use the institution's learning management system to post syllabus, assignments and other materials and to communicate with students.
Maintain records of enrollment and attendance, assessments and grades, submit class rosters and grade sheets by the deadlines established by the institution.
Attend all meetings, ceremonies and official functions as specified by the Chief Academic Officer, Chief Community College Officer and/or Dean
Attend one or more orientation session(s) to become familiar with the Institution's mission and teaching philosophy, policies and procedures
Meet with the Dean or Department Chair/Division or Music Theory Coordinator as needed to discuss all aspects of the course including student progress and curriculum development (may be required to provide input into program development).
Adhere to University policies and guidelines in all matters concerning academics and student and staff conduct.
Minimum Job Requirement
Graduate degree in music education or violin performance and/or equivalent professional experience at least equivalent to those required for a graduate degree in music;
Evidence of successful violin instruction at the college level.

Essential Functions
In support of JCVI strategic goals actively plays a major role in seeking support for independent and team-based research projects. A Professor is expected to manage a research team, or teams comprised of several junior scientific staff who are engaged in significant and productive projects.
Obtains grant/contract funding through the conceptualization and writing of research proposals.
Identifies research project needs and ensures projects are brought to successful completion.
Designs and executes/implements scientific experiments/tools; analyzes and interprets experimental results.
Trains and supervises other faculty members, staff scientists, post-doctoral fellows, and/or research associates, and/or students, and/or data specialists assigned to the Department. They also act as mentors for junior faculty and other scientific staff to promote career development, increase productivity, and provide new research opportunities.

Keeps current on research efforts in specific scientific discipline and advances knowledge of related scientific fields through continued reading of literature.

Individuals who do not hold a Ph.D. or M.D. but with comparable experience in a relevant field and have demonstrated exceptional scientific accomplishments and technology development may also be eligible. Together, these courses cover all levels of reading and writing skills for students as well as researching and using information. The Department Head, Course Coordinators, and ENGL Program Manager will review applicants for these positions when a need arises.

Here is a breakdown of courses:
ENGL 121 College Composition: this transfer-level writing course teaches students to develop and apply rhetorical knowledge for creating effective text-based communication. Students develop critical inquiry and multi-stage writing processes in order to contribute productively, effectively, and ethically to the social and collaborative practices of academic and other discourses.
ENGL 021: Academic Reading and Writing: At HCC, developmental writers are placed directly into ENGL 121: College Composition, though they are also enrolled in ENGL: 021, a course designed to support their success. This course, which is closely aligned with the College Composition curriculum, employs an integrated reading and writing approach to help students develop confidence and proficiency in the areas of academic reading, research, and writing. The course also addresses common barriers to student success. These sections are paired with individual ENGL 121 sections taught by the same instructor; applicants with experience in either or both College Composition and Developmental Writing are encouraged to apply, and curricular support will be provided.
INFO 100: teaches students a core of information literacy and critical thinking skills that will transfer to other coursework and will help them to reach academic and professional goals. Students will learn and refine strategies for college success and will strengthen their capacity for effective academic and professional communication and use of information resources.
Literature: these courses include American Literature, African American Literature, Asian American Literature, Latin American Literature, Middle Eastern Literature, Ethics of Literature, Literature by and about Women, Literature in Film, Children's Literature, Poetry, World Literature, The Short Story, and others.
Adjunct faculty may teach 1-3 courses each semester, depending on schedule and availability. In the English Department at HCC, adjunct faculty are considered part of the campus community: they are paired with experienced mentors, supported with curricular materials, invited to participate in professional development (including Faculty and Professional Learning Communities), and there may be opportunities to engage in certain faculty teams or special projects. There may be added opportunities to work as an embedded tutor and/or tutor students in our tutoring center.
Essential Role Responsibilities
This position requires computer and internet access. For assigned course, prepare the course materials, prepare and update the learning management system course site (Canvas), attend required faculty/staff meetings, complete required trainings, meet with students as needed, grade/assess student work, deliver quality instruction, and meet other employment related requirements from the division and the college.
