Production administrative assistants work in the production department of a manufacturing company and handle the administrative tasks that allow the factory floor to run smoothly. Production administrative assistants enter and organize data about merchandise deliveries, production quotas, and all other processes that happen during the production process. They handle logistics such as processing the payroll for workers and making travel arrangements for executives. They're also responsible for generating and filing paperwork such as purchase orders and expense reports. Administrative production assistants need to have an excellent attention to detail in order to ensure that all data and paperwork is entered correctly, performing audits if necessary.
There are several different ways to become a production administrative assistant. Some have a bachelor's degree in business or communication. Others are able to find work with only a high school diploma.
Since this is an entry-level position, administrative assistants in production don't need a lot of professional experience, although some customer service or office experience is helpful. However, that means that they earn an entry level salary, about $37,621 a year.
