Position Summary:
The summer undergraduate internship is a paid opportunity during the summer of 2026. Interns are expected to work a minimum of 30 hours/week and are paid $18.50/hour. This internship is available to undergraduate students with an interest in non-profit administration.
The administrative intern assists the HR, Legal and Finance teams to maintain the work environment for interns as well as current employees. Interns work with the Director of Human Resources, the VP of Finance, and the Director of Legal Affairs on various administrative projects such as business development, financial audits and reporting, HR recruitment, and internal communications.
For all these tasks, attention to detail and individual judgment are critical in maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and impartiality.
Pew Research Center is an office-based workplace, with all staff working in the Center's Washington, D.C., office three core days weekly (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Staff have the flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week. A modest relocation stipend is available for candidates who need it.
Internship dates: June 1-Aug. 14, 2026 (with alternative dates of June 15-Aug. 28, 2026 also available)
Education/Training/Experience
College students who are pursuing a bachelor's or associate degree and have completed a minimum of two years (in other words, rising juniors and seniors).

The MORPC Local Government Summer Internship Program provides the opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to obtain practical work experience with a local government within MORPC's 15-county region to prepare them for possible careers in public service. MORPC coordinates the recruitment and placement of students to match each host's request; hosts make the final hiring decision and provide an hourly wage. Interns work for a host for a minimum of 16 hours to a maximum of 40 hours per week for a 10- to 14-week period, which means there are both part-time and full-time positions available. The summer 2026 internship program will begin on May 12th and will end on August 14th.
Interns gain applicable knowledge to enhance classroom learning by working with current government professionals throughout Central Ohio and acquire insights into the services provided by a regional planning commission. Interns also can attend monthly commission meetings as well as special MORPC-sponsored events and are paired with a MORPC staff member to serve as their mentor during the summer internship program.
Previous Public Administration interns have gained experience using ArcGIS, Legistar, PDF Exchange, Municode, Canva, Microsoft 365, and other software programs on the job. Specific past assignments include:
* Leading a park redevelopment project and applying for grants to help fund said project
* Assisting with a local government's stakeholder engagement process by creating a community survey to send out to residents and collect feedback on for the planning process
* Collecting and analyzing residential data, such as home values of houses in floodways
* Planning and creating materials for engagement events within a community, such as the City of Reynoldsburg Tomato Festival
* Preparing a city for MORPC's Sustainability Program certification process and creating a Pollinator Garden Application
* Assisting Mayor/senior staff with communication, community relations, and policy research
* Presenting summaries to City Council on proposed updates to City Code, conducting legislative research, and completing other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Students must meet the following requirements:

Job Purpose

The MORPC Local Government Summer Internship Program provides the opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to obtain practical work experience with a local government within MORPC's 15-county region to prepare them for possible careers in public service. MORPC coordinates the recruitment and placement of students to match each host's request; hosts make the final hiring decision and provide an hourly wage. Interns work for a host for a minimum of 16 hours to a maximum of 40 hours per week for a 10- to 14-week period, which means there are both part-time and full-time positions available. Interns gain applicable knowledge to enhance classroom learning by working with current government professionals throughout Central Ohio and acquire insights into the services provided by a regional planning commission. Our all-teen team is composed of teen coders, designers, and co-founders who work together to build Hideouts, a private social-networking app. We are looking for some high-powered, dedicated interns to help with the day-to-day administrative tasks needed to keep Hideouts running. We are building a cohesive, strong team of teens from all over the country to help get the word out about Hideouts.
Administrative interns work closely with the teen co-founders on non-technical, clerical tasks. They may also be asked to help with recruitment, various paperwork, and general coordination of company personnel. Administrative interns will be assigned various tasks, such as applying for grants or handling email correspondence with our partners, or they will assist our co-founders with the aforementioned tasks. Working as an administrative intern is an amazing way to see first-hand what it takes to run an early-stage startup, and exceptional interns may be offered leadership roles within the company.
Please note: this internship is completely virtual and remote. Although this is an unpaid opportunity, we offer service hours as a benefit to our teen interns. Interns are responsible for procuring their own devices needed to work. This internship term is for the summer only, from June 8th-August 28th, 2021. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS AND SCOPE OF WORK:
Specific work in this position requirement stipulates onsite location of employees for performance of work once DOE Hanford Site employees return to offices at the Stevens complex.
Currently, with the COVID 19 epidemic, most work is performed utilizing telework, but this may change as the Hanford Site progresses in phases. Once the Hanford Site has progressed for in-office activities all contractor support is expected to transition to 100% in-office support.
Office space and equipment to perform the description of services will be provided by DOE for work performed in the Hanford Site Offices.
For telework, The Administrative Support Specialists will be responsible to have the equipment and capabilities to work from home. It is anticipated that all the work shall transition into 100% in-office capability in the future.
Inherent governmental functions will be performed by DOE staff. The Administrative Support Specialists shall not perform any inherently governmental functions under this contract, including but not limited to: development and formulation of DOE policies, programs, projects, and acquisition strategy, product acceptance, representing DOE in any forum, and providing direction and control to DOE employees.
WORKING HOURS: The Administrative Support Specialists shall work on a full-time basis with work hours consistent with normal business hours at DOE Hanford.
