SUMMARY
Under supervision of the IT Director, the position will manage GRTC's network infrastructure and assist in implementation of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) projects, to include application maintenance, support and process improvement projects. Network Engineer of GRTC's entire network infrastructure
System engineering activities in all phases which include Analysis, discovery, design build, test and deployment of networking infrastructure components.
Advanced technical support of computer network systems and other operation systems
Performs project management in systems upgrades and installations that conform to industry standards and statewide ITS standards.
Ensure that all project deliverables are met utilizing the standard project management phases of initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing.
Assist with the development of business processes and procedures.
Coordinate activities with vendors during system implementation, upgrades, maintenance, and support activities.
Conduct consistent industry related research on new available technologies, to ensure up-to-date optimal network operations.
Develop system documentation to assist in the planning of hardware upgrades.
Assist the information systems department in providing high level support to all users, including hardware and software problem management.
Performs on call and emergency support to ensure high availability of critical IT services.

Summary:
Manage and review animal research protocol submissions by conducting administrative pre-review submissions, checking administrative requirements, coordinating activities among IACUC reviewers and investigators, and documenting & maintaining minutes & letters to ensure meeting regulatory requirements. Provide feedback to investigators to improve their protocol forms submission. Participate in the IACUC/ACUP related activities, such as, IACUC semiannual facility inspection and subcommittee program reviews. Coordinate educational programs for animal researchers and IACUC members, including seminars, webinars, broadcast emails and keeping educational contents current on ACUP website. Manage ongoing quality assurance and improvement of the IACUC electronic submission and review system by working with various group to improve the process of submissions and protocol form. Performs highly complex duties to facilitate the review and approval of animal research to ensure research is conducted in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as institutional policies and procedures.
Primary responsibilities include substantively reviewing research submissions, managing operations of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), coordinating training for both IACUC members and the research community, managing ongoing development and enhancements to the electronic submission system, and providing oversight and coordination of IACUC portions of the Animal Care and Use Program website. The position requires the use of analytical skills and independent judgment in interpreting and applying relevant regulations and institutional policies; demonstrated effective communication skills for guiding IACUC members, chairs, investigators, and research staff in how to apply the regulations, and in crafting complex correspondence to relate IACUC determinations; exceptional organizational skills to manage monthly committee meetings/IACUC reviews and coordinate the activities of a comprehensive training program. Analytical and data analysis skills are essential for ensuring ongoing quality improvement in IACUC processes. The position requires a flexible individual who has experience in animal research, can learn specific program functions quickly, is highly skilled in interpersonal relationships, is demonstrably skilled in professional oral and written communication, and is able to deal effectively with high volumes, rigid deadlines, and frequent changes.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent combination of training and experience is required. Currently holds or should seek certification as a Certified Professional IACUC Administrator within 2 years of hire. Knowledge of federal regulations governing animal research, with the ability to quickly gain a full working knowledge. Ability to analyze regulations, apply regulations to research protocols, and convey information verbally and in writing to faculty and staff. Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively including a demonstrated ability to plan, organize, schedule, and complete work within deadlines. Ability to work in a diverse environment. Ability to perform multiple tasks at any given time with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to recognize, analyze, and resolve potential issues/problems. Highly effective interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Finely tuned written communication skills. Diplomacy and exceptional customer service. Utilize independent initiative. Ability to work with all levels of individuals in a respectful and supportive manner. High level of proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as experience using databases. Ability to quickly learn new computer software. A commitment to help maintain a positive, productive, and healthy office environment. A demonstrated commitment to continuous quality improvement such as identifying areas for increased efficiency or developing solutions to challenges. The candidate should have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
