About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Associate Director, the Admissions Counselor coordinates admissions and enrollment processes for domestic students in compliance with Title 5 standards, California State University (CSU), and San Francisco State University (SFSU) admissions and enrollment policies including advising, counseling and guidance regarding the undergraduate admissions process to prospective applicants, undergraduate applicants, and returning SFSU students. Incumbents accomplish their work through the use of admissions technology applications and manual admissions process review.

What you will be doing:

Admissions Processing

  • Coordinate and conduct the review of new undergraduate applicants according to Title V, CSU, and specific campus policies.
  • Assess and interpret self-reported applicant information and academic records for determination of eligibility for admission.
  • Monitor and update Campus Solutions (CS) based student records.
  • Verify admitted applicants eligibility for enrollment.
  • Determine eligibility for waivers of application fees.
  • Verify the completion of English and math course work for placement in those subject areas at SF State.
  • Provide admission services to special populations.
  • Support new and existing staff members flexibly covering the work of the unit.
  • May be required to travel to off-campus locations for special activities and attend some evening and weekend activities

The Admissions Counselor plays an important role in the delivery of treatment services to the clients ensuring both funding and clinical appropriateness. This position is responsible for assisting new clients through the admissions process ensuring that all clients receive services mandated by the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS). The Admissions Counselor is responsible for completing the intake, orientation and assessment for all incoming clients. This role also ensures that clients are able to obtain appropriate funding in order to complete recommended treatment services. Admissions Counselors must be able to maintain client confidentiality in accordance with state and federal guidelines and HIPAA requirements.
Responsibilities of Admissions LADC

Work with the Admissions Coordinator to ensure all treatment inquiries and new clients are successfully enrolled in treatment services
Update Rule 25's, complete competency assessments, and coordinate with funding sources in order to ensure client is successfully enrolled into services. Understand treatment admissions barriers and work with client to successfully enroll in programming, demonstrate and respond to clients and referrals request for treatment and tend to details related to various admission circumstances with which a client may present
In cooperation with the Program Director, evaluate and modify program design for the purpose of meeting licensure requirements and needs of clients
Maintain membership and participation in other related professional organizations
Under direction of the Admissions Supervisor, Program Director and Program Manager(s), deliver services meeting licensure requirements and individual client needs as a member of the multi-disciplinary team in residential or outpatient settings
Provide individual case management/file documentation for assigned caseload, noting all treatment related activities and services in an accurate, professional, and timely manner, creating and monitoring individualized treatment plans, providing group therapy and individual counseling services to individuals with co-occurring substance abuse and mental health issues
Provide culturally sensitive and relevant services to diverse clients and their families
Responsible for complying with federal and state confidentiality statutes following the approved lines of authority set by the Program Director, upholding ethical standards established and implied by the profession, and DHS rules, and maintenance of all required licenses including but not limited to:
Providing the appropriate current license(s) for their employee file
Providing documentation for 8 credit hours of annual mental health training
Familiarity with MN 245G and the said company's House Policies and Procedures Manual as they relate to client services, client records and personnel
Managing and communicating details around client funding
Perform data entry/updates for assigned clients into Minnesota Department of Human Services on DAANES
Attend in-service training sessions sufficient to meet professional requirements
Keep abreast of rules and changes in substance use disorder (SUD) treatment field
Be available to represent the organization outside the facility as needed
Conduct oneself in a manner that presents a positive reflection on professionalism as an asset to the image of the organization
Introduce/transport clients to program site as needed
Some responsibilities may expand beyond normal core business hours, including the weekend (for Residential)
Other duties as assigned or required

Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience for Admissions LADC:
Current LADC License
Minimum of AA degree in related field
Age 18 or older
Demonstrated working knowledge in the field of substance use disorder and/or mental health, in an addiction treatment facility
High degree of computer literacy including experience using an electronic health records (EHR) system
Excellent written, communication, customer service, and case management skills
Able to pass Minnesota DHS background study
Must be free of problematic substance use for at least two years immediately preceding employment and must sign a statement attesting to that fact
Possess maturity, patience, understanding and empathy with recovering individuals and work with a multidisciplinary team
Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds
Physical Demands: Sitting for extended periods of time. Daily use of general office equipment. Lifting (max 10 pounds), minimal reaching, bending and stooping. Ability to effectively navigate program or office environment such as ascending and descending steps, passing through doorways and entrances, and accessing program/office facilities.

Preferred:
ADDITIONAL LICENSES: LP, LICSW, LMFT, LPCC
Bachelor or Master degree in related field
4-6 years of related experience
Skilled consultant and facilitator
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong facilitation, negotiation, investigation and mediation skills
