LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a PayrollSpecialist to join our client in San Diego, CA. This full-time direct hire position is fully onsite. The PayrollSpecialist will be responsible for overseeing the accurate processing of payroll, quarterly and year-end reporting, onboarding new hires, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and company policies. This role requires exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:
Process bi-weekly payroll for 300 multistate employees, including handling employee garnishments and pay adjustments
Reconcile payroll prior to submission
Ensure proper tax fillings, including setting up state tax IDs and proper taxation of employer paid benefits
Responsible for quarterly and year-end reporting
Maintain compliance with federal and state laws
Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of payroll software and systems - ADP Workforce Now preferred
Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Understanding of federal, state, and local payroll regulations, tax laws, and employee benefits programs

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Business Office Manager, the Payroll and Billing Coordinator provides administrative support for the payroll and billing operations for Seniors At Home, with 60-70% of the role focused on payroll‑related responsibilities. In addition to payroll responsibilities, the Payroll and Billing Coordinator also supports client billing and insurance submission activities, assists with revenue‑related data entry and basic reconciliations, and provides general business office and administrative support for the SAH program and JFCS headquarters.

Generates payroll and billing reports for interdepartmental communication or processing (e.g., stipend reports, training reports, billing and payroll dashboards) and prepares additional monthly and quarterly reports as requested by the Business Office Manager
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree in Business, Communication, or related is strongly preferred
A minimum of 3 years of full‑time experience in payroll processing in a high‑volume, detail‑oriented environment
Hands‑on experience with basic billing or invoicing process
Experience with database management or data tracking systems preferred
Basic knowledge of California payroll practices and wage‑and‑hour requirements, including overtime, meal/rest periods, and accurate timekeeping, or the ability to learn these quickly with guidance
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) is required
