Fundamentals of Microbiology with Lab (BIOS-242)
This course covers basic concepts of microbiology, with emphasis on medically important microorganisms and infectious diseases. Also addressed are microscopy, microbial growth and genetics, antimicrobial agents, epidemiology and immune system responses to pathogens. Lab exercises focus on aseptic techniques, isolation and culture of microorganisms, microscopy and staining techniques.
Responsibilities:
Develops and provides students with an approved Adtalem Global Education syllabus that follows a template established by the local campus, and which includes the terminal course objectives.
Organizes, prepares, and regularly revises and update all course materials.
Uses appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including Websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
Models effective oral and written communications that engage the students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
Sets clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examinations dates, and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories.
Ensures that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.
Demonstrates consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams, and provide timely feedback to students.
Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Earned a master's or doctorate degree in Microbiology, Biology or very closely related field with a minimum of 18 or more graduate credit hours earned directly in microbiology required.

Date degree was conferred
US degree equivalency.
Have at least 15-credit hours of higher education teaching experience (preferred but not required)

Support student success.

Course: Fire and Emergency Services Administration
This course is a progressive primer for students who want more knowledge about fire and emergency services administration. The course demonstrates the importance of the following skills that are necessary to manage and lead a fire and emergency services department through the challenges and changes of the 21st century: persuasion and influence, accountable budgeting, anticipation of challenges and the need for change, and using specific management tools for analyzing and solving problems. A central part of the course focuses on how the leadership of a fire and emergency services department develops internal and external cooperation to create a coordinated approach to achieving the department's mission.
Other Courses May Include: Political and Legal Foundations for Fire Protection, Personnel Management for the Fire Service, Applications of Fire Research, Fire Prevention, Community Risk Reduction for the Fire and Emergency Services, Fire Service Ethics, AND/OR Fire Science Capstone
