HVAC Instructors are subject matter experts that provide classroom and laboratory instruction in various HVAC courses as part of an approved training and education curriculum by NCCER, providing a talent pipeline of individuals seeking to work in the HVAC Industry.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
* Designs meaningful and sequential instruction with relevant learning activities to meet course objectives
* Teaches curriculum designed by NCCER
* Ensures specific skills related to HVAC work are developed
* Demonstrates the proper use of equipment and tools
* Assists students with certification assessment preparation
* Revise courses in conjunction with the Coordinator of Advanced Manufacturing in order to stay up-to-date with advances in the industry
* Promotes the program and recruits students through a variety of activities
* Adheres to all safety standards and industry practices and they are responsible for the care and maintenance of classroom and laboratory facilities, equipment and materials
* Works with program advisory committee to advance program innovations, evaluate the significance of emerging technology, create opportunities for students, and ensure program standards and activities are relevant to the needs of business and industry
* Fosters and builds relationships with other programs and instructors as well as with industry leaders and employers in our community
* Helps to build awareness and understanding of our HVAC program among vendors, suppliers, builders, and residential and commercial contractors and companies to improve student job placement
* Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
* A love for teaching and strong interest in changing student's lives
* Verifiable experience as a lead service technician and/or service manager
* Five years of recent HVAC experience in residential and commercial settings
* Previous teaching experience is preferred
* Excellent communication and organizational skills
* Valid Licensure/Permit by the Ohio Department of Education as an AdultEducation Instructor (or be willing to obtain credential)
* Adheres to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for OhioEducators
