Adult nurse practitioner job description

TidalHealth in Salisbury, near beautiful MD beaches is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Opportunity will provide care to patients in the psychiatric inpatient acute care unit and the partial hospitalization program, as well as assisting with patients in the emergency room and on the medical floors.

+ Assumes primary patient care responsibility for patients in collaboration with the attending psychiatrists.
+ Completes the initial psychiatric evaluation including psychiatric history and physical.

+ Identifies and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team in the design of patient treatment plans.

+ Communicates patient status information, attends daily treatment team, rounds on patients, and documents in the medical record.

+ Prescribes and manages patient's psychiatric medications, usage and results.

+ Educates patients about treatment plans and medications and other patient care activities as directed by medical director.

+ Knowledgeable of a wide range of disorders; psychiatric, medical, cognitive, emotional, developmental, social and behavioral.

Job Requirements:

+ Active professional licensure as a CRNP PMH or PMHNP to practice in an expanded nursing role in the State of Maryland.

+ Controlled substance prescribing authorization and DEA certificate.

+ Minimum of two years of experience as a CRNP PMH or PMHNP in an acute inpatient adult behavioral health setting or 5 years of experience on an adult acute care inpatient unit as an RN.

+ Proven ability to communicate effectively and work successfully with multiple disciplines in a hospital setting.

• Registered Nurse with active advanced practice license in the state in which he/she is employed.
• Currently certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner by the ANA, or other national accrediting board.
• One (1) year experience as Adult Nurse Practitioner within the last five (5) years or as required by contracted employer.
• Able to provide proof of current Basic Life Support (BLS) training.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

• Able to effectively communicate with clinical and non-clinical staff and individuals.
• Able to work autonomously and effectively in a multidisciplinary model.
• Demonstrates basic understanding of computer and workplace software.
• Demonstrates skills in consultation, collaboration and systems management providing effective restorative care.
• Evidence of malpractice insurance with professional liability coverage of at least $100,000 per claim with a minimum annual aggregate of at least $200,000 from an authorized insurer under the law (as required by the State).
• Meets applicable health requirements to provide patient care.

Working Conditions & Physical Effort:

• Work is performed in clinics, schools, hospitals, nursing homes or occupational settings.
• Work environment involves frequent exposure to communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens and/or potentially infectious or hazardous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment (e.g. face masks, goggles, latex or non latex gloves).
• Able to stretch, bend, stoop, twist, stand, sit, walk, reach and climb stairs.
• Able to work flexible schedule and/or evening hours as needed.
• Able to travel as needed.
• Requires normal, correctable vision and hearing.
• Physical activity is medium and may require frequent lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs.
