Summary/Primary Role:

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Design and develop HVAC systems for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings
Conduct load calculations to determine heating and cooling requirements
Select appropriate HVAC equipment and components based on project specifications
Create detailed HVAC schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings
Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure integrated system designs
Perform energy modeling and analyses to optimize system efficiency
Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of HVAC systems
Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to HVAC system performance
Conduct site visits to assess system performance and make necessary adjustments
Prepare project documentation, including specifications, reports, and manuals
Provide technical support and guidance to clients and stakeholders
Stay updated with advancements in HVAC technology and practices

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Experience with HVAC design software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC load calculation programs
Knowledge of building information modeling (BIM) techniques
Strong understanding of energy efficiency principles and sustainable design practices
Experience with project management and leading design teams
Familiarity with industry standards and codes, such as ASHRAE, LEED, and energy codes
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in HVAC design
Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer principles
Ability to create detailed technical drawings and schematics
Ability to work collaboratively with a team

Supervisory Responsibility:

Expected Hours of Work:
An Employee is expected to work a minimum of forty (40) hours per week. Non-exempt employees are eligible for overtime pay in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws, while exempt employees may be required to work additional hours as necessary to fulfill their job responsibilities. Overtime requirements will be determined based on the operational needs of the organization.
The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. When determining an employee's base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, and internal equity). Brightcore also offers a comprehensive set of benefits to compliment the base salary. The base annual salary range for this position is $95,000-$130,000 and is eligible for an annual performance-based bonus.

As a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, Hybrid Powertrain at Carbon Robotics, you will play a key role in developing the mechanical systems that enable our diesel-electric platform. You will immediately bring your significant experience integrating powertrain systems into vehicles and developing supporting systems such as gearboxes, generators, cooling systems, fuel management systems, and drivetrain components to revolutionize agricultural traction systems.
What you'll do:
Define and select core off the shelf and semi-custom components of the diesel electric powertrain including diesel engine, generator, ECUs, start/standby batteries, and more.
Design/integrate complete diesel electric drivetrain systems including motor housings, gearboxes, and axle assemblies for high-torque agricultural applications
Architect thermal management solutions for motors, inverters, and battery systems operating in extreme agricultural environments
Develop mounting structures and vibration isolation systems for diesel and electric motors ranging including traction drives to auxiliary pumps.
Design/integrate power transmission components including couplings, driveshafts, and reduction gearboxes for 100+ kW electric motors
Analyze and optimize powertrain efficiency through gear ratio selection, bearing design, and lubrication systems
Lead durability testing including shock/vibration, thermal cycling, and accelerated life testing of drivetrain components
Collaborate with electrical engineers on motor integration, cable routing, and high-voltage safety enclosures
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Success:
8-15 years experience designing automotive or heavy equipment powertrains, preferably with electric or hybrid systems
High proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks) and FEA (ANSYS) tools for structural, thermal, and vibration analysis
Extensive experience with rotating machinery design including shaft dynamics, bearing selection, and gear design
Solid background in thermal management including liquid cooling systems, heat exchangers, and thermal interface materials

Job Description
We are seeking a highly capable and motivated Mechanical Engineer III with a strong focus on HVAC system design to join our growing team. The Mechanical Engineer III will manage HVAC and mechanical utility design efforts, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure high-quality, code-compliant, and constructible solutions. Key Responsibilities
* Lead the design and engineering of HVAC systems including airside, chilled water, heating hot water, steam, and exhaust systems.
* Develop mechanical utility systems such as compressed air, natural gas, and process piping.
* Perform engineering calculations including load analysis, pressure drop, and equipment sizing.
* Prepare and review technical documentation including:
* Design reports, narratives, and specifications

* Energy modeling and utility assessments
* Coordinate with architects, engineers, clients, construction managers, vendors, and trade partners to ensure integrated and constructible designs.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering (mechanical focus) from an ABET-accredited program.

* Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing.
* Experience in HVAC and mechanical utility system design within an AEC firm.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in life sciences (pharmaceutical, biotech, laboratory) or food & beverage industries.
* Familiarity with GMP manufacturing environments.

Ability to perform QA/QC on drawings from drafters, designers, and/or design engineers on projects
Ability to assist in the education and development of design staff and act as a resource for design questions
Working knowledge of Industry Standard (ISA) P & ID development and evaluation
