    The main responsibilities of the Laboratory Assistants are to set up, evaluate, and analyze field and lab research projects; prepare samples or specimens for examination, processing, and evaluation as well as set up & maintain research equipment. Assist in the setup, maintenance, and evaluation of field research projects. Summarize and minimally analyze research data; and assist in the assembly, testing, and operation of complex laboratory equipment. Technical assignments at this level typically include duties such as: preparing samples for nutrient analyses, preparing complex reagents and media using basic ingredients, processing and testing field samples through sap analysis, preparing components required for media making, preparing field samples for examination by professional and/or academic personnel, preparing concentration specimens, collecting stem water potential measurements using a pressure chamber, evaluating plant and soil health using visual and laboratory methods, assist in experimental applications of registered chemicals to plants, monitoring insect pest populations, accurately weighing field yields using a harvest weigh cart, removing fluids and preservatives by pipetting and using solvents, assisting a team with harvest preparation and procedures, grinding tissues and placing in suspension, and dissecting plant and insect material exposing tissues for examination. This position is a career appointment that is 75% variable. Pay Scale: $23.22/hour to $25.06/hour Job Posting Close Date: This job is open until filled. Perform one or more standard repetitive laboratory and/or field experimental procedures that require technical scientific knowledge and skills. Ability to use data collection and measurement software, as well as Excel, PowerPoint and Word in order to detail the measurement. Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a per diem Physician Assistant for the department of Surgery at the New Jersey Medical School. Under the direction and supervision of a Dr. Keri Lunsford, provides health care services to patients and assist in the management of patients under clinical trial in the Division of Transplant and HPB Surgery at Rutgers NJMS. PA should have specialized knowledge and experience in organ donation, liver transplant, complications of liver transplant, and the evaluation and management of liver transplant patients both prior to and following transplantation. In addition to clinical duties, the PA will be responsible for maintenance and upkeep of clinical trial records, assessment of complications occurring following clinical trial enrollment, and entry and audit of clinical data into the data management system. They will be required to undergo training and certification in clinical trial data management and human subjects research, and they will interface with clinical and research personnel. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. Provides documentation for patient clinical assessment for those enrolled in liver transplant clinical trials. Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results for deviations from normal and ensure protocol compliance for patients enrolled in liver transplant clinical trials.     The instructor is responsible for the planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. The instructor is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day, evening, or weekend on any Northwest-Shoals Community College campus as assigned. As a minimum, the related activities include instruction, academic advising, serving on various committees, participating in local, state, regional, or national professional activities and/or organizations. An instructor may be asked to perform other related duties as directed by the Division Chair, Department Head, Dean of Instruction, or the President. At a minimum, the essential functions of the instructor are: * to plan, organize, and instruct courses; to keep students informed about their progress through the prompt grading of exams and assignments; * to demonstrate a commitment to student success; * to provide safe and stable learning environment; * to conduct class evaluations and complete other college evaluations in accordance with college policy; * to keep students informed about their progress through the prompt grading and posting of daily assignments, lab assignments, quizzes, and/or exams in the College's learning management system; * to plan each unit or lesson, as to content, method, and organization to make each class period meaningful; * to ensure that assigned classes are held as scheduled; * to teach all classes according to an approved syllabus; to keep students informed concerning course content, requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance requirements; * to hold final exams at the time scheduled in the College's semester schedule unless permission to deviate has been approved by the Division Chair and appropriate dean level supervisor; * to recommend textbooks, instructional materials, and on-line theory and lab curriculum, including classroom and laboratory equipment and/or trainers, to the Division Chair or dean level supervisor; * to accommodate differing student learning styles in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and the College's established ADA program; * to participate consistently in professional development related to his/her field and current trends for in-person, on-line, and hybrid instruction utilizing the College's Distance Education Office and Instructional Designer; * to serve as an academic advisor to assigned students; * to refer students to Student Services departments, as needed; * to work closely with his/her Division Chair on the development of annual division budgets for approval by the dean level supervisor; * request material, equipment, and supplies as needed for program; * to assist with registration; * to assist in the development of course offerings each term; * to post and maintain office hours for student consultations; * to participate in program and curriculum review and development; * to compile and dispense required reports in a timely manner; * to actively promote program through recruitment, retention, success, and completion initiatives; * to assist the Office of Strategic Partnerships in establishing a work-based learning program; * to assist in the completion of the program's institutional effectiveness plan; * to attend faculty meetings, college assemblies, professional development and orientation activities, and other meetings as required by the President, dean level supervisor, or Division Chair; * to become familiar with and comply with college policies and procedures; * to serve on and provide information to college committees as needed; * to convey college-related information to students in a timely manner as requested by college officials; * to maintain accurate and complete scholastic records. * Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution, required * Current professional certification in medical assisting, required * Three (3) years of full-time experience in clinical or office practice, with a minimum of 40 hours of experience in an ambulatory healthcare setting performing or observing administrative and clinical procedures performed by medical assistants, required A complete application packet consists of the following: * a completed Northwest-Shoals Community College online application form, * a current resume, and * postsecondary transcripts (unofficial or official), which must include institution's name, college degree, and degree date.
