GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY: As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will help plan, direct and coordinate manufacturing processes and projects in the plant; respond to manufacturing issues and concerns to ensure products are produced to specifications and according to manufacturing schedules while ensuring efficient use of resources. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: * You will help develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods. * Determines the processes, identifies the materials and supplies to be used, and designs and builds appropriate fixtures necessary for efficient and cost effective manufacturing. * Establish bills of material, manufacturing routings, machine burdens, and new work centers. * Creates instructions for new products to be manufactured. * Process internal engineering change orders (ECOs), processes and incorporates the changes, and ensures changes become effective. * Study and record time, motion, methods and speed involved in performance of production and other worker operations to establish standard production rates and to improve efficiencies. Institute changes in the production processes and/or recommends adjustments to product pricing. * Perform engineering activities in compliance with established company and manufacturing standards, engineering principles, customer requirements, and related specifications. * Confer with customers and engineering staff concerning product design and tooling to insure efficient production methods. * Confer with vendors to determine part specifications and recommend the purchase of equipment and materials used in manufacturing and production. * Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs for management decisions. * Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes. Other duties may be assigned. EXPERIENCE: * One to two years of experience in fabrication and welding of construction and agricultural equipment is preferred. EXPERTISE: * Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. * Proficient with computer-aided drafting (CAD) software. * Excellent mechanical aptitude, communication and computer skills are required. Must be able to gather, manipulate and analyze data. EDUCATION: * BS Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing required. This position will be the Manufacturing Engineer in the PRO Business Unit. The PRO Business Unit is responsible for building the Professional Refrigeration product in the Sub-Zero Fitchburg facility. The team consists of a cross-functional group of engineers, supervisors, and technicians all with the same responsibility of managing the PRO Business Unit in different aspects. LOCATION: Columbus, WI SUMMARY: Primary responsibility is monitoring and measuring process and product performance, establishing and implementing recommendations for improvements to both product and process, and ensure optimal production of the various products produced by American Packaging. Participate with the gathering of information needed to establish process conditions for new and developing products and processes. Ownership of CI projects as assigned. Lead projects, provide data and set up projects to achieve CI goals. Organize and lead process and product improvement teams/initiatives, using established project management techniques, to improve product quality and process performance and lead the implementation of those improvements. Ensure that manufacturing specifications are known, understood, and communicated. Provide engineering expertise as needed. Analyze production and test data to establish consistent production results. Utilize data to recommend design changes to correct/resolve problems and contribute to the optimization of products to the required technological specifications or end uses. Ability to work and communicate with all levels of the organization as required. This will range from hourly production employee up to and including the Operations Director. Work schedule must be flexible to allow for attendance at trials/production during nights and/or weekends if necessary.
