Our Aeronautics Systems Sector is seeking a Principal Reliability Engineer in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, for support projects associated with the design and development of communication, navigation, radar, avionics, power and/or electrical systems architecture, components, circuits, and products or aircraft maintenance. The employee will research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment, systems, and products for defense systems or commercial purposes. You will become part of Northrop Grumman's Lifecycle Sustainment and Modernization Solutions (LSMS). LSMS provides sustainment support for the US Air Force B-1 and B-2 Bombers, E-3 Sentry, Airborne Warning and Control System, and numerous other Government platforms. Our team members complete engineering, reverse engineering, and logistics solution efforts to solve complex obsolescence problems and ensure warfighter supportability. The Reliability Engineer will support all levels of total system products including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal. The activities that this engineer will help execute within these levels will be those pertaining to technical planning, system integration, ground and flight testing, verification and validation, airworthiness, cost and risk, reliability / maintainability / availability calculations, supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. This person will help develop, coordinate, and conduct product life studies and evaluations of engineering designs throughout the program life cycle (e.g., business capture, development, production, and sustainment). Responsibilities: Assess designs by evaluating engineering needs, system/component specifications, use cases, and prior system performance Assess system/component field performance using field data and use that data to create statistical reports, interpret historical trends, and help identify factors affecting field performance Use field data to create and maintain a comprehensive timeline of field failures, modifications, time change items, etc. to better understand field behavior and help support other teams' analyses (e.g., spares analysis) Maintain a failure and corrective actions database (e.g., FRACAS) that tracks engineering solutions efficacy Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects and requirements Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of increasing scope and complexity as assigned Support subcontractor evaluation, selection and coordinate activities with respect to reliability needs Prepare for, present at and participate in design reviews. The Reliability Engineer at Devon is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of equipment and assets. This role focuses on analyzing failures, implementing preventive measures, and optimizing maintenance strategies to maximize asset reliability and minimize downtime. * Analyze equipment performance data and failure trends to identify root causes. * Develop and implement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) programs. * Reduce unplanned downtime and improve asset availability and reliability. * Reduce costs through optimized maintenance strategies. * Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve asset reliability. * Consider and quantify reliability engineering-specific risks in decision-making, collaborates on cross-discipline risk initiatives, and provides detailed technical recommendations with business implications to leadership. * Lead failure investigations and corrective action processes. * Monitor and report on key reliability metrics (MTBF, MTTR, etc.). * Support the selection and specification of new equipment with reliability in mind. * Drive continuous improvement initiatives and implements best practices to enhance equipment efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness. * Continues growth in knowledge and skills while gaining experience completing tasks gradually increasing in scope and complexity, collaborates seamlessly across disciplines, and actively seeks mentorship for gradual task escalation and complexity. * Travel to field locations is required, including production sites, refineries, processing plants, etc. Education: * Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline. Experience: * 5+ years of relevant experience in reliability, maintenance, or engineering roles, preferably in Oil & Gas or related industries. Preferred Certifications: * Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) * Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification Skills: * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Familiarity with reliability tools (FMEA, RCA, RCM, Weibull analysis). * Proficiency with CMMS and reliability software. * Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. * Knowledge of industry standards (API, ISO, etc.).
