* Work with Design Engineers and plants’ Manufacturing/Quality engineers to assure Design for Manufacturability (DFM) at component and assembly levels through New Product Development (NPD) milestone processes.
* Work with plants’ Mfg/Quality Engineers and Production leaders in developing robust PFMEA, innovative jig/fixture/gaging/EOL tester design/development, fool-proof in-process quality control system, 1-pcs flow U-cell assembly mfg layout with 80+% line balance, capacity & production ramp-up plan, and Assembly Quality Plan (AQP) through NPD to assure on time smooth new product production launch and on-going product quality at competitive costs and with justifiable adequate investment.
* Work with AME motor/tooling/process engineers & plants’ component mfg process engineers to assure component Design-for
* Manufacturability (i.e. GD&T;, mfg processes, tooling) & keep up Critical-to
* Quality (CTQ) features’ 6-sigma scorecard (i.e. gaging, GRR & Process capability CP/CPk studies) integrity from MS1 and onward.
* Work with plant mfg/quality engineers, sourcing and material/production controllers to assure on-time ESL/MSL/Pilot builds.
* Work with plants’ Sourcing and New Product Sourcing (NPS) on NPD product cost & investment development & keep it updated from MS1 and onward.
* Lead product & component MvMvB studies with NPD program manager, Finance & NPS at MS1~2 to assure Total Cost benefits to our company.
* Willingness to travel internationally (estimate 25+% annually) in working with global manufacturing plants & suppliers

What Does An Advanced Manufacturing Engineer Do At Tenneco

* Manage new process development projects and coordinate activities with various internal & external customers
* Develop manufacturing process designs and coordinate with tooling and equipment sources for construction & validation
* Establish and maintain integrated working relationship with global teams and lead a functional Best Methods team
* Drive standardization throughout Tenneco by use of Best Methods teams, benchmarking, and setting process standards
* Champion benchmarking initiatives and integrate their findings into appropriate areas of Tenneco
* Create APQP documents including Process Flow Diagrams, Process FMEA’s, and
* Control Plans
* Lead capital and tooling acquisitions, analysis and strategies
* Assist manufacturing facilities in design and applications of gages and fixtures
* Interface with suppliers and research development centers to research and develop new product and process design and technology concepts
* Support manufacturing with launch and continuous improvement activities
* Support customer teams with quotes, designs, VA/VE initiatives and technical presentations
* Provide technical support and assistance to the manufacturing, quality, development, and program staffs
* Support and adhere to Tenneco EH&S policies and procedures
* Support TS16949, ISO14001, APQP and other applicable procedures and policies
* Develop, evaluate, and drive improvement in Rod Manufacturing process methods and procedures
* Participate in Program Launch meetings and be a part of prototype manufacturing runs.
* Provide input for design for manufacturability, process yield and capacity.
* Become subject matter expert in customer and product requirements for Rod Manufacturing.

* In the role of Advanced Manufacturing Engineer – Electrical, you will:
* Design, qualify, implement, and maintain calibration or test system (Labview or other) for US and International sites or vendors, working with senior engineers to develop and meet technical requirements
* Develop manufacturing processes for New Product Introduction (NPI), documenting process changes, driving process / fixture improvements, driving lead and cycle time improvements, cost of quality (COQ), and Environment, Health, & Safety (EHS) actions
* Design and/or build tooling and test equipment for Automation Projects
* Support the day-to-day needs of a Production Cell or Key Process
* Trouble-shoot production issues (Printed Circuit Boards and Test Systems)

* Assist in the preparation or prepare investment and expense budgets for addition, modification, replacement, or disposal of facilities/equipment or process related projects.
* Prepare plant layouts and determine footprint, manufacturing, and logistics systems related to the needs of the business.
* Active involvement in plant prototype development and management meeting or exceeding customer delivery and documentation requirements.
* Active involvement in new product launches and provides subsequent support to plant Launch Manager and plant Program Manager.
* Reviews progress and evaluates results; makes changes in methods, design or equipment where necessary; devises new approaches to problems encountered.
* Maintains regular contact with plant manufacturing operations and supports DFMEA/PFMEA activities.
* Active involvement in plant manufacturing engineering related continuous improvement activities
