We look for team members who want to grow and be professionally challenged, while enjoying a rewarding, caring, and friendly environment. We are looking for a MRITechnologist to join our team. The pay range for this role will depend on experience and qualifications.
Schedule: Flexible evening and weekend hours. ($2.50/Hr. Evening Differential & $3.00/Hr. Weekend Differential)
Location: Shelton CT
The MRITechnologist will perform MRI exams in accordance with exam procedures and protocols using independent judgment to ensure optimal diagnostic quality and exceptional patient care. The technologist will also be responsible for assisting Radiologists with special procedures such as arthrograms, reviewing all necessary documentation related to the procedures, and setting up patients, operating equipment, and performing related clinical and administrative duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs MRI procedures as ordered achieving a high level of quality and timeliness.
Escorts patients to treatment room and assists with dressings as necessary.
Completes all paperwork necessary to ensure timely delivery of MRI services.
Explains MRI procedures to address patient concerns and questions.
Administers I.V. contrast.
Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
Completes related paperwork and obtains interpretation by radiologist.
Conducts quality control measures to monitor machine performance and reports all malfunctions and/or need for adjustments to the site manager.
Focuses on customer service and uses courtesy and poise when interacting with patients, staff, and visitors to maintain a professional atmosphere.
Education and Experience:
Associate Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
ARRT (R) (MR) certification and Connecticut licensure required.
1-2+ years of clinical experience in all MRI procedure types.
Siemens, GE experience preferred.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Performs MRI Scanning to ensure accurate and efficient quality of patient care to patients of all ages particularly the adult patient.
Introduces oneself to the patient, explains examination to the patient, striving to gain patient cooperation by providing assistance and comfort during the examination.
Sets up the MRI room for all examinations, and cleans the room following each examination maintaining orderliness and cleanliness to create contamination free environment.
Demonstrates competence and proficiency
a) Performing all required examinations
b) Positioning the patient and equipments
Assists in invasive procedures including breast biopsies under MRI guidelines.
Works collaboratively with interventional nursing on universal protocol for patients with invasive procedures.
Identifies each patient, reviews each patient's chart and previous radiographs for consistency (examination ordered/clinical diagnosis) and records pertinent data on MRI requisition at all times.
Assesses patient condition, assures patient safety through proper use of restraints/support devices.
Assures patient comfort by maintaining constant communication with the patient prior to starting scan and during scan.
Identifies anatomical orientation on all required images
Reviews each examination for technical accuracy, presents completed examination to radiologist, and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure.
Coordinates the MRI examinations to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care.
Schedules inpatient/emergency patient/add on examinations to facilitate outpatient scheduled examinations.
Demonstrates ability to organize patient care and set priorities by providing critical care first, and by implementing the physician's orders.
Performs examinations in an accurate and timely manner by responding to changes in the work schedule; handling interruption; functions as a productive technologist; and completing assignments prior to shift termination.
Performs proper MRI patient safety screening.
Performs venipuncture on patients when required.
Demonstrates consistent ability to meet patient needs both emotional and psychological as documented.
Provides direct patient care to all ages of patients, particularly focusing on the adult patient.
Check all images to make sure they are marked properly, logged and ready for radiologist.
Performs proper quality assurance requirements.
Performs all required quality control and quality assurance measures on magnetic equipment.
Wears personal name badge properly, using it in accordance with hospital policy.
Demonstrates competency and proficiency in magnetic protection, protecting self and other personnel during all examinations.
Practices universal precautions before and after each patient examination according to departmental procedure.
Contributes to the efficient operation of the department.
Maintains confidentiality of all hospital-related information.
Initiates applicable “incident reports” and reports incomplete and incorrect examinations to ensure proper patient charge and continuity of patient care.
Assesses environment or safety hazards which could harm patients, visitors, or other hospital employees, and reports all hazards to appropriate supervisors immediately at all times.
Performs “film librarian” and “transporting” responsibilities as required.
Completes all duties and responsibilities on a daily basis.
Performs properly and completely secretarial duties as required.
Monitors inventory of supplies. Orders and restocks expired and used items and maintains proper inventory records. Notifies supervisor when stock is low.
Participates in the orientation and training of new employees and health care professionals.
Directs technologist and students in the proper use of MRI equipment.
Assists technologist and students in the production of quality images.
Assures patient safety, comfort and care through proper technologist/student observation.
Participates in the clinical evaluation process as required.
Demonstrates professional growth.
Demonstrates knowledge of institutional regulations regarding patient care, fire safety, infection control, disaster plans and emergency codes.
Assists in quality assurance program as requested to enhance job knowledge and understanding.

Attends 75% of all departmental and section meetings as required.

Educational / Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma and two-year accredited program in Radiologic Technology
State/Federal Mandated Licensure or Certification Requirements:
Radiologic Technologist registered through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, (ARRT) and licensed in the state of Connecticut. Advanced certification in MRI required and recommended.
Qualifications
Bristol Hospital Mandated Educational Requirements:
General orientation at time of hire. Fire/Safety/Infection Control annually. Other programs as mandated by Hospital.
Special Requirements:
Registered Radiologic Technologist I, advanced certification in MRI recommended, at least one year experience in MRI recommended, and licensed in the state of Connecticut.
Physical Requirements:
On feet most of the day with lifting greater than 50 lbs. occasionally and up to 35 lbs. routinely. Physical agility including but not limited to bending, stooping, walking, reaching, standing, pulling, pushing and twisting. Hearing and sight corrected to normal.
