We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer II in Advanced Algorithms. This role will support a variety of programs that are defining, creating, and fielding the next-generation RF technologies and capabilities that are needed by our national defense force in order to meet and surpass the threats of today and beyond. Due to the wide variety of programs supported by our team, the exact skillset needed or emphasized depends on the specific program. However, in this role candidates will perform some subset of the following RF-domain-specific activities:

Design, implement, and validate algorithms for RF digital signal processing, data fusion, target tracking, and automated resource management, using both simulated and real-time demonstration data

Design and advance the state-of-the-art of next-generation, multi-function RF systems architectures and interfaces via systems engineering requirements development and trade studies

Modeling and simulation of sensor phenomenology, both for RF sensors (e.g. radar, Air-to-Air capabilities, Air-to-Ground capabilities, Electronic Support Measures) and sensors outside the RF spectrum (e.g., EO/IR) Modeling and simulation of sensor network performance using tools produced internally or provided by external customers or groups

Develop and extend automated analysis tools for reducing large data sets and producing analysis outputs, e.g., RF sensor I/Q data, sensor measurement data, tracker measurement data
Design and apply AI/ML algorithms and techniques to problems in the RF domain
Collaborate closely within a multi-disciplinary team of systems, software, and hardware engineers.
Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics(STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

Minimum qualifications:

+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

+ 6 years of experience in design, development, testing, and commissioning of power system protection and control.

+ 6 years of experience developing power system models and performing system analysis for protection/dynamic/transient studies.

Preferred qualifications:

+ Experience with communication/signaling protocols utilized in power engineering.

+ Experience with Siemens and ABB protection relays.

+ Experience with energy storage technologies, including utility-scale Lithium ion batteries.

+ Experience with HIL testing using RTDS, OPAL-RT, and other commercially viable closed loop testing methods.

+ Work with executive team members on creating future data center protection and control concepts.

+ Work with Execution and Field Testing teams to lead testing and commissioning efforts for power system protection.

+ Create and maintain power system models to optimize existing architectures and help solve power quality and protection issues.

+ Investigate renewable power generation, carbon free storage technologies, innovative, and optimal ways to protect and control them.

• Completion of the Intern Explainer commitment in good standing, continued participation as an Advanced Explainer is a plus
• Enrollment in High School
• Good interpersonal skills, willing to be a team player, interested in learning about citizen science and best practices in outdoor science education
• Must be an excellent teacher and role model for peers
• Responsible, punctual, professional, motivated, a self-starter. Interest in science, education, and/or customer service. Open to learning new things
• Candidate must be willing to stand and work outdoors in all types of weather
• Requires standing, bending, and kneeling while teaching children
• This position requires commitment to one weekly onsite 4.5 shift on Saturday or Sunday; as well as four holiday and school break shifts; seasonal refreshers or training sessions as scheduled; additional hours during summer including enrichment opportunities available
• Advanced Explainers MUST participate in:
  • Weekly Shifts beginning October 1-2, 2022 continuing through January 29, 2023.
  • Assisting with facilitation of Intern Explainer Open House (Nov. 12) or Intern interviews (Dec. 10, 11 or 17) or Orientation (Jan. 18)
• Foreign language is helpful, but not essential.
