Advantus company history timeline

1912

Simon Seward died in 1912 at the age of 68 and his sons took over the trunk business.

1988

Noesting manufactured pin tickets, paper clips and clamps, brass fasteners, straight pins, deadlocks, electrical leads, special wire forms, and firing pins for the military. • In 1988, Charlie Frohman and Pete Levy purchased Noesting from the founding family.

1991

Tracia had started a design business called Tracia & Company in 1991.

1995

That same year, Bruce Walls oversaw the construction of the 37,000 square foot Wyla facility on Phillips Industrial Blvd. in Jacksonville. • In 1995, Wyla’s manufacturing operation was moved from New Jersey to Jacksonville and marketing and design was moved to offices in New York City.

2001

Advantus and GEM Merger • In June 2001, Advantus Corp. merged with GEM Office Products.

2002

In mid-2002, the Company acquired the 163,000 sq. ft.

2003

12th Street facility Leeco and Cropper Hopper Photo organizing storage box • In 2003, United Stationers (now known as Essendant) asked Advantus to take over the distribution of Leeco Industries’ products to United.

Later in 2003, the Company acquired both of them.

2006

Carver Wood letter tray Vertiflex breakroom storage Ledu lamp Vertiflex file cart Tim Holtz • In 2006, Advantus partnered with Tim Holtz to launch the Tim Holtz Idea-ology brand.

2014

Marty has held several CXO and executive roles within the legacy company of E3 Federal Solutions and Avantus Federal since 2014.

2018

Advantus renames to Securian Asset Management, Inc. effective May 1, 2018

2021

He most recently was a Director of QTS Realty Trust (NYSE: QTS) serving as Chairman of the Audit Committee until its sale to Blackstone (NYSE: BX) in 2021.
