Manual cleaning and disinfection of endoscopes accompanied by complete and accurate documentation insuring patient and employee safety.
DSD disinfection potency checks and documentation per protocol.
Insuring equipment is in proper working order and following repair protocol as required insuring patient and employee safety.
DSD disinfectant changes at proper intervals or when ever potency is not achieved. Which ever come first.
Accurate and complete documentation of disinfectant changes as well as proper disposal of used disinfectant per manufacture instructions.
Filter changes at proper interval accompanied by accurate and complete documentation.
Stocking workstations and ordering supplies insuring that all workstations are stocked and restocked after use.
24 hour PH Monitor set up.
Ability to competentently assists physicians with procedures while on-call.
Patient transport.
Linen ordering, stocking and organization.
Participation in device inservices and ongoing education.
Work under the direction of a RN.

Our compassionate team provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics.

This position exists to assist patients to overcome their anxieties regarding the G.I procedure, to assist the physician performing G.I procedure, to maintain a safe and clean environment, to maintain the equipment used in the G.I. Lab, and escort patients. These duties will be under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in accordance with established policies and procedures. Basic Qualifications:
Experience

Education

Completion of an accredited Sterile Processing Program including 400 clinical hours or a Surgical Technician program.

Additional Requirements:

Experience
One year experience in instrument processing. Must know Medical Terminology to understand instrumentation, surgical procedures, and surgical schedule. Must have knowledge of various types of reusable surgical instrumentation, including power equipment and micro surgical instrumentation. Must know how to operate Sterile Processing departmental equipment (i.e. washers, ultrasonic, steam, gas, and chemical sterilizer). Must know cleaning of patient care equipment (i.e. I.V. pumps, feeding pumps, pneumatic pumps, CPM machines, PCA, and hypo/hyperthermia units, etc.) Must know sterilization monitoring, record keeping, and quality assurance protocols. The Technician, under minimal supervision, is responsible for transporting, decontamination, cleaning processing, storage and distribution, and sterilization of instruments, supplies equipment dispensed by the department following infection control practices. Must be conscientious with regard to procedures and capable of working under pressure and interacting professionally with other departments within the hospital. Responsible for adherence to standards and regulations enforced by The Joint Commission, OSHA, and other government agencies, to prevent cross-contamination and maintain a safe hospital environment.
Qualifications
Education/Training/Experience
Minimum of 6 months experience as Sterile Processing Department Technician preferred.
Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, aseptic techniques, and nomenclature of instruments and equipment used by the department.
Knowledgeable with cleaning and sterilization procedures and techniques.
Conscientious regard for technical procedures and accuracy.
Good communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
Licenses/Certifications
IAHCSMM or CBSPD technician certification required within the first twelve (12) months.

Summary of Functions:
The Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) is responsible for the instruments used to facilitate organ, eye, and tissue donation, including the core responsibilities of decontamination, instrument wrapping, autoclave usage, and quality control release for recovery use. The SPT will be the subject matter expert for using the instrument washer, supplies utilized to support sterilization, and the areas for quality control release.
The SPT will maintain a clean work environment and be responsible for cleaning the sterilization areas. The SPT will ensure that Central Supply Operations and Policy and Procedures relating to the functions described below are compliant with all regulatory requirements. Performs all duties and responsibilities in compliance with policies and procedures, regulations as outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations, and other applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Decontamination:
1. Processes used instruments through the decontamination process.
2. Restocks solutions used to clean the instruments and work space.
3. Loads and operates instrument washer and learns key functions of the machine, including powering machine on/off, cycle settings and adjustments, notifications of machine issues, and how to tag the equipment as inoperable following OneLegacy P&Ps.
4. Oversees solution maintenance, including communication when solution stock levels fall below par levels for reordering, preparation of solutions, and proper disposal of solutions prior to expiration.
Sterilization:
1. Inspects and ensures instruments have been thoroughly washed.
2. Utilizes correct wrapping technique for instrument type, and include protective coverings as applicable.
3. Loads the autoclave machine using the correct load configuration based on instrument types.
4. Verifies the autoclave is running appropriately for specified cycle. If the autoclave cycle fails or aborts, the SPT is responsible for communication to management for guidance on corrective action for the machine.
5. Documents all activities associated with the use of the autoclave for sterilization procedures as outlined in OneLegacy P&Ps.
6. Communicates with management for inventory stock replenishment.
Quality Control Release:
1. Safely removes instruments from autoclave and places instruments to quarantine hold.
2. Documents instruments undergoing biological indicator quarantine hold.
3. Initiates biological indicator testing process.
4. Reads and interprets results of biological indicator process.
5. Releases or rejects instruments appropriately as determined by biological indicator process.
Central Supply Operations Tasks:
1. Participates in rotating and shelving items, tracking inventory levels and discarding outdated items to ensure adequate levels for clinical readiness.
2. Participates in med gas tank rotation and monitoring to ensure adequate air supply is available.
3. Arranges sharpening and repairing of instruments as needed or required.
4. Ensures cleanliness of Central Supply areas at each OneLegacy facility as outlined in OneLegacy's Policies and Procedures.
5. Performs inspections of all OneLegacy recovery facilities; frequency of inspections is at the discretion of management.
Secondary Duties:
1. Attends all department staff meetings, annual hazard communication and control safety training sessions for Cal-OSHA, contract processors, and other training programs as deemed necessary by the Project Manager of Organs and Tissue Operations
2. Performs all duties and responsibilities in compliance with policies and procedures, regulations as outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations, and other applicable federal, state and local laws.
3. Performs quality control practices as defined by the policies and procedures.
4. Supports the organization's Standards of Professional Conduct as outlined in the OneLegacy Employee Handbook, and the mission, vision and values.
5. Performs all other duties as assigned.
6. Periodical works “after hours” in case of emergencies.
7. Works overtime as needed/required based on department needs.

Job Qualifications and Requirements:
Education: Associates Degree from a two year college, completion of Surgical Technologist, EMT program, or equivalent training in an affiliated health field required.
Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in sterile processing is preferred.
Certification/License: OneLegacy requires employees to maintain a current California driver's license and current vehicle insurance. Please refer to OneLegacy's Policy HR108 - Licensure and Certification for insurance coverage requirements.
Requirement:
Employee must be able to pass a local government agency (coroner's office) background check.
Equipment: Reliable automotive transportation required.
Salary Range: $43,680-$53,955.20
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, OneLegacy considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
