Advertising account managers mediate between the client and the ad agency while carrying out the work. They represent the client by figuring out what services they need from the agency. Then advertising account managers sell the agency's services to the clients.

You will lead the presentations of ideas to clients and be responsible for managing work within the clients' budget and timeline limits. Additionally, you'll be the one who designs project briefs and manage the work to be done by account executives.

It will be your duty to perform various administrative tasks as well. You will keep track of clients' accounts, monitor the progress of projects, build strong working relationships with clients and look for new leads.

What general advice would you give to an advertising account manager?

I have spent almost two decades in the higher education industry and about a decade in administration. I often advised students, and it is astonishing to see how many of these students do not plan for their future. A good plan is a starting point to lead a good and successful career and life. Hence, by all means, it is worth noting that developing a future-oriented focus is important, so taking time to streamline the plan should be an important exercise for every graduate before they begin to do anything.
