This role sets the strategic direction for ASI's product and supplier data management practices - aligning initiatives with company goals, anticipating future trends, and driving innovation in data quality and governance. While this is a senior leadership role, it's also a hands-on position - the ideal candidate is a leader who can roll up their sleeves, dive into the details, and work alongside the team to solve complex challenges when needed. This is not a "sit above the work" role - we're looking for someone who can balance strategic vision with the willingness to get tactical when it matters most. A critical part of the role is managing client escalations with urgency, professionalism, and a customer-first mindset.
The Director, Data Operations will report to the Senior Vice President, Data and IT Operations and will be based in our Trevose office. You will be a part of our ESP Information Services department, collaborating with a team of forward-thinking data and technology professionals.
Key Responsibilities:

Direct daily operations of product data processing, optimization, and integration teams.
Manage workflows to deliver accurate, timely product data updates in alignment with company milestones.
Monitor departmental performance metrics and implement continuous improvements for efficiency and scalability.
Oversee internal communication of supplier updates, including coordination with marketing and sales teams.
Take a hands-on-approach to problem-solving, stepping into the work when needed to remove roadblocks, resolve data issues, and model operational excellence for the team.
Customer Escalation & Client Success
Serve as the senior escalation point for product data-related issues, ensuring rapid resolution and strong client communication.
Collaborate with Sales and internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery and alignment on product data standards.
Protect revenue streams by addressing supplier disputes and ensuring accuracy in product listing fees and billing operations.
Balance leadership presence with direct involvement - understanding the details of data operations well enough to diagnose, troubleshoot, and lead by example when challenges arise.
Strategic Leadership
Anticipate industry trends, emerging technologies, and evolving client needs to position ASI's data ecosystem for future success.
Partner with executives and stakeholders to prioritize projects and champion breakthrough data management approaches, ensuring investments deliver measurable value and competitive advantage.
Bridge the gap between strategy and execution - ensuring vision translates into real, measurable operational outcomes.
Data Quality & Governance
Establish, implement, and enforce robust product data quality standards and governance policies.
Proactively identify and correct discrepancies or data errors, ensuring data integrity across all platforms.
Provide executive reporting on the progress of data-related projects, ensuring product and supplier data meets service-level agreements and downstream usability standards.
Team & Vendor Management
Lead a team of 40+ staff, including three direct reports, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and growth.
Manage vendor and contractor relationships, including offshore teams, to meet operational, quality, budget, and delivery expectations.
Model a "no job too small" mindset - mentoring through action and staying connected to the operational realities of the team's work.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in information management, Business Information Systems, or related field.
5-7 years of experience in data operations and/or product data management, with proven success leading large teams.
