Licensed Practical Nurse Essential Functions:

Observes, records and reports patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.

Responds to/refers incoming patient treatment-related phone calls. Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines, and confidentiality policies.
Perform other duties/tasks as requested by providers, coordinators, and management in accordance with office procedures/policies.
Maintain confidentiality and use discretion when handling patient's medical records and information.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This list may include but is not limited to the following:
Fulfills patient care responsibilities, as assigned, which may include preparing patient charts for upcoming appointment and gather required forms/handouts
Obtaining patient vitals, as appropriate for patient age, including heart rate and respiratory rate
Collecting patient history and documenting collected information
Obtaining and preparing specimen for testing in-house or outside lab, as directed by provider. For in-house specimen, includes completing test operation for result.
Administering vaccines, medications, and injections, according to insurance company requirement, as directed by physician/nurse practitioner, including proper documentation and signatures in patient chart.
Reviews, monitors, and prioritizes the Triage telephone EMR box for call returns based on available information; Interviews parent, guardian, or patient to make an accurate assessment of the patient's health care needs based on patient's signs and symptoms utilizing established triage protocols and guidelines;
Provides parent with the appropriate plan of action based on protocols;
Disseminates instructions, advice, and lab/test results to patients, as directed by a provider or office protocol;
Accurately documents symptoms/complaints, nursing assessment, advice provided and patient/caller response in electronic health record.
Fulfills environmental responsibilities, as assigned, which may include:
Set up instruments, equipment, and run controls for laboratory testing according to protocol
Cleaning and disinfecting exam rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits and at the end of each shift to maintain infection control;
Dispose contaminated testing material and supplies according to OSHA requirements.

Requirements
Education and Experience:
Must have an active RN license
RN degree required; BSN preferred
Minimum one-year professional nursing experience preferred
