The Child Life program exists within the Child and Family Developmental Services department, serving both ambulatory and inpatient pediatric needs for the Alaska Native healthcare system.
We are currently seeking multiple Certified Child Life Specialists to expand our services and better serve the Alaska Native community. Opportunities in Emergency/Fast Track, Dental, Primary Care and Specialty Pediatric clinics, etc. Reports to Lead Child Life Specialist. Works closely with small Child Life team, as well as SLP, OT, PT, SW and medical staff.
Qualifications:
SCF programs are established to serve a primary population comprised of Alaska Native people who are affiliated with Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI) and Alaska Native and American Indian people within SCF's geographical service area. Employees should have a thorough understanding of the cultures and the needs of this population. DAVAs are required to work a 40-hour work week; however, it is vital DAVAs be available when requested; on-call services are required. The SATS Co-Occurring Counselor will be responsible for completing Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) as well as ASAM based assessments for clients.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
* Knowledgeable of Substance Related and Addictive Disorders and the treatment there of.
* Extensive knowledge of DSM mental health diagnoses and the treatment there of.
* Skilled in the areas of group, individual and family counseling, didactic presentations, case management, treatment planning, discharge planning, crisis prevention/intervention, clinical evaluation, screening and assessments, and documentation requirements.
* Knowledge of and ability to complete SBIRT and ASAM Assessments.
* Knowledge of cross-cultural issues and skill in working with diverse population.
* Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
* Strong organizational, verbal and written skills.
* Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy required.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, maintain poise under pressure and successfully communicate with a wide range of personalities.
Essential Functions:
* Conducting SBIRT and ASAM Integrated assessments, orientation with new clients, development of treatment plans, referrals and reentry planning as needed.
* Facilitating groups dealing with chemical dependency, substance abuse issues, co-occurring disorders, criminal personalities, and criminal thinking errors per approved curriculum.
* Monitoring client compliance with treatment goals and assigned curriculum work.
* Completing documentation in a timely fashion and in compliance with contract requirements.
* Performing other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other management as required.
Software-related Skills: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and ASAM CONTINUUM required; working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:
* Provides structured classes for students in employability skills and emotional development. * Develop methods for obtaining feedback from staff and students on new topics and subjects needed for curriculum development.

Minimum Qualifications include an Associate's Degree in Human Services or a closely related field. Prior work or life experience may be used in place of the degree. We expect our candidates to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, group, and written communication skills, a commitment to the agency's mission and goals, the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and lifestyles, and the ability to work independently and pass a background check. Candidates should be proficient with computers and frequent data entry.
Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week) with occasional overtime.
Shifts Available: Overnight shifts - 10 p.m.- 6 a.m., 11 p.m.- 7 a.m. and 12 a.m. - 8 a.m.
Salary: Determined by experience, non-exempt.
Location: Not Remote - Office Location is in Wasilla, Alaska
