Patients often are intubated, on ventilators, or have hemodynamic instability. The Clinical Transport Nurse performs invasive procedures and hemodynamic management of critical patients. The Clinical Transport Nurse must have strong clinical knowledge and skills necessary to care for patients of all ages with a diverse range of medical needs (neonatal - geriatric) operating specialized medical equipment and utilizing advanced skills. * Initiates intubation procedures and sets up ventilation equipment. Operates, assesses, and manages patient airway support, ventilator settings and equipment.
* Transports and monitors patients requiring ECMO, Medical Circulatory Devices (VAD, Impella), Intra-aortic Balloon Counter Pulsation, Internal/External Pacing, Ventriculostomy, and Point of Care. Must be capable of handling equipment challenges and failures without support of internal hospital resources.
* Works in an autonomous environment that requires patient management and critical decision-making based upon the dynamic patient status in unique settings such as accident/scene calls outside the traditional hospital and healthcare setting with limited resources and support.
* Responds to accident scenes and is expected to work in hazardous environments. Including inclement weather, biohazards and highly infectious patients. Responds to disasters and maybe deployed for extended periods of time.
Physical Requirements
* In order to meet safe flight weight limitations and scheduling requirements candidates must weigh less than 240 pounds and must maintain that weight while employed at MCA (exception will be made only when department has ground position needs).
* Duties require working and transporting patients in ambulances as well as driving vehicles including ambulances in all weather conditions. Required to drive to and work at multiple locations across NC and SC based on staffing needs.
* Must not have any physical, emotional, or mental impairment to prevent them from riding, driving, or administering patient care in transport vehicle. This work area has cramped space and can be poorly lit. Noise levels are moderate as associated with working in and around emergency vehicles. We also offer a variety of advanced treatments. These include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, total contact casting, negative pressure wound therapy, and cellular and tissue-based products. The Center uses an interdisciplinary model of care, including vascular, infectious-disease management, physical therapy, occupational therapy, laboratory evaluation, nutritional management, pain management, diabetes education, and other areas to address total patient health. We provide care for patients 6 months and up. Atrium has a total of 7 outpatient wound centers across the region.

Job Summary
