Major Responsibilities:
• Proficiently operates ultrasound equipment to perform general, vascular and/or cardiac procedures/studies. Accurately differentiates between normal and pathologic findings.
• Reviews patient's medical record to obtain necessary clinical information including patient history, lab results, and physician orders, obtains necessary clinical information from patients, and compares requisitions to physicians' orders to ensure exam accuracy.
• Positions patient and selects proper transducer and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures. Adjusts factors to attain the appropriate images. Ensures safety, mental and physical comfort of patient.
• Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
• Accurately identifies and labels images identifying patient name, medical record unit (MRU) number, and location or position of scan on all images.
• Maintains records in accordance with various regulatory agencies and enters patient and study information into the radiology information system, and documents billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
• Identifies equipment performance issues, communicates to appropriate staff, and evaluates new products and equipment for possible future use.
• Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician.
• Serves as a technical resource, role model and/or preceptor for students and staff. Acts as a resource to staff at own facility and throughout the system.
• Participates in a quality improvement, patient safety or cost containment project/initiative either at a site, market or system level and in the achievement/maintenance of laboratory accreditation.
• Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
• Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) needs to be obtained within 0 months unless department leader has determined it is not required, and
• Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) needs to be obtained within 0 months unless department leader has determined it is not required, and
• Vascular Technologist (RVT) registration issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) needs to be obtained within 0 months unless department leader has determined it is not required, or
• Vascular Sonography (VS) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) needs to be obtained within 0 months unless department leader has determined it is not required, or
• Vascular Specialist (RVS) registration issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) needs to be obtained within 0 months unless department leader has determined it is not required, and
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
Education Required:
• Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Sonography.
Experience Required:
• Typically requires 2 years of experience in a Sonographer role.

Major Responsibilities:
• Uses Respiratory therapy processes to support assessment of patient utilizing a variety of skills such as pulmonary diagnostics, chest radiograph, hemodynamic values, laboratory values, and correlates blood gases and electrolytes. Can identify and address the special needs of patient population specific to department services.
• Operates specialized ventilators in critical and non-critical care venues. Assists physician with bedside or other procedures as applicable to facility.
• Provides medication treatments and therapies per physician order and/or patient driven respiratory protocols as prescribed.
• Cleans, maintains, and ensures proper functionality of equipment. Troubleshoots equipment as necessary and identifies the need for service and/or repair.
• Educates and instructs patients in purpose, technique, self-care, goal of therapy, and disease management.
• Facilitates clinical problem solving and collaborates with other departments to provide education on managing patients.
• Under physician direction, the respiratory therapist must be able to adapt and comply to policies and procedures for a variety of different service areas, perform tasks and/or special duties as required by assignment and maintain performance standards and organizational behaviors.
• Demonstrates effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution skills. Provides clear, concise, timely, and accurate patient handoff.

Manages all patient care services, including nursing, and ensures adequate staffing of nursing and ancillary services staff. Establishes
policies and procedures of the Surgical Services Department within organizational guidelines.
Major Responsibilities:
• Provides safe staffing needs using workload measurement data to clinical judgment. Accountable 24 hours/day for unit operation decisions.
• Responsible for service assignments for staff based on knowledge, skill and ability.
• Develops unit budget and ensures cost effective and cost efficient use of resources. Provides input regarding equipment/supply needs, renovations, and environmental issues in preparation of operating and capital equipment budgets.
• Participates in departmental strategic planning and policy-making. Engages in decision-making through membership on hospital and departmental committees.
• Promotes communication among patients, families, hospital departments, and medical staff to optimize the interdependence of all team members. Coordinates the needs of physicians and acts as liaison between the medical staff and the nursing staff by serving as a problem solver and mediator.
• Supports Shared Governance and its functions related to Nursing Evaluation, Peer Review, Policy/Procedures, and Standards of Nursing Practice.
• Serves as a clinical resource contact for patients, families, nursing staff, other health care members and external agencies.
• Ensures unit orientation programs meet learning needs of new employees and prepare staff to fulfill requirements of position.
• Provides for, and coordinates, unit-based educational programs. Assesses staff needs for supervision, resources, and direction.
• Identifies clinical and professional educational needs to promote staff development. Assists staff to identify personal learning needs.
• Evaluates the quality of patient care provided in the specialty area through collaboration with unit and organization resource people. Assures policies and procedures are in compliance with those of the Medical Center, the Nursing Department, and regulatory agencies.
• Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
• Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
• Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
• Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
Education Required:
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
Experience Required:
• Typically requires 5 years of experience in Nursing. Includes 1 year of supervisory experience in managing staff and budgets.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
• Advanced clinical and technical knowledge of the Operating Room.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills.
• Ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously.

Major Responsibilities:
• Proficiently operates ultrasound equipment to perform general, vascular and/or cardiac procedures/studies. Accurately differentiates between normal and pathologic findings.
• Reviews patient's medical record to obtain necessary clinical information including patient history, lab results, and physician orders, obtains necessary clinical information from patients, and compares requisitions to physicians' orders to ensure exam accuracy.
• Positions patient and selects proper transducer and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures. Adjusts factors to attain the appropriate images. Ensures safety, mental and physical comfort of patient.
• Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
• Accurately identifies and labels images identifying patient name, medical record unit (MRU) number, and location or position of scan on all images.
• Maintains records in accordance with various regulatory agencies and enters patient and study information into the radiology information system, and documents billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
• Identifies equipment performance issues, communicates to appropriate staff, and evaluates new products and equipment for possible future use.
• Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician.
• Serves as a technical resource, role model and/or preceptor for students and staff. Acts as a resource to staff at own facility and throughout the system.
• Participates in a quality improvement, patient safety or cost containment project/initiative either at a site, market or system level and in the achievement/maintenance of laboratory accreditation.
• Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
• Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) needs to be obtained within 0 months unless department leader has determined it is not required, and
• Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) needs to be obtained within 0 months unless department leader has determined it is not required, and
• Vascular Technologist (RVT) registration issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) needs to be obtained within 0 months unless department leader has determined it is not required, or
• Vascular Sonography (VS) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) needs to be obtained within 0 months unless department leader has determined it is not required, or
• Vascular Specialist (RVS) registration issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) needs to be obtained within 0 months unless department leader has determined it is not required, and
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
Education Required:
• Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Sonography.
Experience Required:
• Typically requires 2 years of experience in a Sonographer role.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
• Proficiency in all general and/or vascular sonographic procedures routinely performed in the hiring department.
• Ability to use independent judgment to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
• Ability to work effectively with others towards common department goals. Actively and positively contributes to morale and teamwork.
• Ability to effectively communicate with patients and caregivers using excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Advanced knowledge of aseptic techniques.
• Knowledge of and adherence to department, facility and organization policies and protocols.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
• Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, and twist throughout the workday.

• - lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
• - lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.
• - carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
• Must be able to:
• - push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
• - perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
• Must have clear speech, vision and hearing.
• May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
