ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Residential Care Assistant/Direct Support Specialist, you'll provide compassionate support to help residents live their best lives. Your role includes assisting with daily activities such as hygiene, meals, and medication, creating a comfortable home environment, and fostering meaningful family and community connections.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as an advocate for all Pillar Care Continuum Day Program Consumers; setting an example to staff that protecting and promoting dignity, respect, independence, health, and safety is our primary commitment and responsibility.
As guided by Senior Day Program Staff, serves on team within designated area of responsibility to determine daily program activities for everyone.
Assists consumers to achieve the greatest degree of independence by supporting participation in program activities, always providing opportunities for choices; may provide tutorial attention to consumers in pursuit of IHP goals and objectives.
Participates in community activities with consumers as assigned by Senior Habilitation / Vocational Specialist.
Assists consumers with personal needs including transferring, toileting, cleaning, grooming, and feeding.
Collects and records data as directed, including completing daily DTR's within the Electronic Client Record. Responsible for recording daily attendance within Electronic Client Record.
As instructed by Senior Day Program staff and Behavior Coordinator, initiates or implements recommendations and/or behavior plans and maintain related documentation.
Attends and participates in staff meetings, individual supervision meetings and trainings as assigned; attends off-site trainings, and conferences.
Drives a van route, serves as a van aide, as assigned by a supervisor or transportation coordinator.
Performs other functions as directed by supervisor, PILLAR management, or funding source representatives.

Qualifications:
At least 18 years of age (Insurance Purposes)
HS Diploma or GED
1-2 Years of successful employment with the same establishment or agency
1 year experience supporting adults/children with developmental disabilities preferred
Successful completion of criminal background history and fingerprint examination
Valid driver's license with fewer than 4 points at all times.

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct individual and group psychotherapy sessions for patients in a subacute or skilled nursing facility.
Assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of emotional and behavioral health conditions, including depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, and cognitive decline.
