The Opportunity
This position works out of our Pleasanton, CA location in the Heart Failure Division.
Abbott is currently seeking an experienced commercial attorney to provide legal advice to Abbott's Heart Failure Division. The attorney will be expected to identify and resolve complex legal issues to support the operations of a global leader in the research, development, manufacturing, sales and marketing of medical device products. The ideal candidate will have experience working with healthcare providers and a solid understanding of payor agreement contracting principles as well as billing, reimbursement, compliance, and auditing guidelines and requirements. What You'll Work On
Conducting reviews and revisions of payor agreements on request and offering legal advice on business payor relations and contracting strategies.

Advising and ensuring that internal clients receive sound, practical and timely legal advice on a wide variety of legal matters related to operation of a commercial business that markets to health care professionals.
Resolving legal issues using negotiation skills and legal expertise, including pre-litigation dispute resolution and settlements.
Assisting in the creation of new template agreements, playbooks and training to support efficient contracting processes for various business functions.
Developing knowledge of Abbott's businesses, products and client areas supported.
Maintaining familiarity with laws that affect client areas to issue spot and provide basic counseling, including those relevant to sales and marketing of products to health care professionals and reimbursement by government programs, for example, fraud and abuse (Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Civil Monetary Penalties Law, Stark, Beneficiary Inducement Statutes), FDA regulation (Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act), privacy (HIPAA), and anti-corruption (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act);
Representing Abbott externally to suppliers and customers; and
Helping select and/or directing the work of outside counsel, defining project objectives, managing project, and monitoring outside counsel budget.
This position will interact with the Legal, Compliance, Finance, Education, Supply Chain, Research & Development, Regulatory, Quality, Clinical, Marketing, Commercial/Sales, and Information Technology Departments.

The On-Call Housing Advocate is responsible for supporting the implementation of daily programming within the housing continuum, which includes prevention & intervention, drop-in services, STEP Shelter, and Transitional Living Program (TLP). On-Call Housing Advocates support clients with day-to-day needs, crisis intervention, house maintenance, life skills workshops and group programming, supporting case plans that may include document readiness, service referrals, education or employment readiness, mental health support, and overall operational assistance in the STEP, TLP, and Q-Spot programs.
We operate under a housing-first, low barrier framework. Program participants have often experienced trauma, homelessness, engagement with criminal justice and/or foster care systems, substance use/abuse, and/or mental health challenges. Low-barrier services are designed to reach disconnected LGBTQ+ transitional-aged youth (18-24 years old) as the program is rooted in trauma-informed care and harm reduction models.
Housing Advocates work to reduce the traumatic impacts from being unhoused by creating a safe, inclusive and stable short-term housing environment where their basic needs are met. In partnership with their Case Manager, other program staff, and community partners, we are working as a team to support the client's capacity to achieve and maintain long-term housing stability, strengthen life skills and self-reliance, upon entry into our program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provide on-call shift coverage for housing staff and other team members as needed.
2. Provide client advocacy and support, including ensuring client accountability to all program requirements and standards of conduct.
3. Support program implementation.
4. Support clients with daily activities, crisis intervention, resources and referrals.

THE POSITION

Victim Advocate II is the journey-level class in this series. Victim Advocate II is the experienced level classification. * Conduct trauma-informed interviews and assessments for victims of crime in the office and in non-office settings, including crime scenes, hospitals, victims' homes, law enforcement agencies or other organizations to assess victim's emotional, social, and physical needs, interests, safety concerns and anticipated obstacles;

What You Will Do

Working Conditions

The Youth Acceptance Collaborative (YAC) is a partnership between Our Space (SBS's community center for LGBTQ+ youth), Family Builders and Alameda County Social Services. The YAC provides a continuum of services towards the prevention of some LGBTQ+ youth from entering the child welfare system, and the transition of others from placement to family-based permanency.
The role of the Youth Advocate (LGBTQIA+) is to provide support services to LGBTQ+ youth ages age 13 up to 18 who are in foster care or at-risk of entering foster care. The Youth Advocate may, at times, serve youth younger than 14, at the discretion of their supervisor. Support services will be focused on placement stabilization and may include: weekly, individual support meetings with youth; facilitation of a weekly support group for LGBTQ+ foster youth; collaboration and case consultation with Social Services staff and community partners; assessment and support of clients' permanency needs; and referral and linkage services. The Youth Advocate will work closely with staff at the Alameda County Assessment Center to provide crisis intervention and stabilization services; build rapport and trust with LGBTQ+ youth; and decrease barriers to LGBTQ+ youth receiving services, education and community resources. This position requires a high level of independent decision making as 60 - 75% of the Youth Advocate's time will be spent in the field providing community-based support services to youth referred to the YAC. When not in the field, the Youth Advocate will maintain a physical presence in the milieu at Our Space to create a continuity of services for LGBTQ+ youth who have had contact with the Assessment Center, and at the Assessment Center so as to develop rapport and provide support to Social Services placement workers as needed. Critical to this position is the ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with community partners, towards successfully supporting clients and engaging providers in submitting referrals. The Youth Advocate will carry a caseload of 5 - 8 youth.
A portion of this role works to raise awareness around the programming and services offered through Our Space and the Youth Acceptance Collaborative. The Youth Advocate is responsible for overseeing communications platforms, including social media, the monthly newsletter, and print materials. Additionally, the Youth Advocate will network and collaborate with community partners, including schools and nonprofit organizations serving LGBTQ+ youth, to identify and pursue opportunities for collaboration.
