In partnership with Human Resources, provides oversight of staff credentialing, competencies, evaluation, progressive discipline, etc. Develops an effective Union partnership and ensures productive forums for collaboration (e.g., Nurse Practice Council, Labor/Management Council). Provides standardized methods for effective communication with nurse leaders and front-line staff. Speaks on behalf of nursing, explaining and marketing the roles and responsibilities of nurses, at leadership meetings and to a variety of other audiences. Collaborates with other disciplines to ensure that care is comprehensive, coordinated, and monitored for effectiveness, and provides continuing assessment of health care needs, including equipment, systems and software, to ensure optimal service outcomes and continued support for the health care system's mission, vision and values. Interprets and maintains adherence to regulations and legislation and responds to bioethical, public policy, and legal issues that may influence the delivery of patient care. In conjunction with senior nursing staff and other departments, plans, implements, and administers operating, staffing and capital plans and budgets, and an expense control system.
