Job Description AECOM is seeking a highly talented, self-driven, and motivated Civil Engineer to be based in the Columbus, Ohio area. This position is expected to begin in November/December 2025. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Builds analytic and design skills. Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer. Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer. Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer. Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems. Performs work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: Candidate must have completed Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or have demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required. Preferred Qualifications: Transportation-related internship/work experience. Proficiency in CADD and industry-standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation/OpenRoads). Engineer-in-Training certification or ability to obtain within one year. Experience with business development and client relations. Experience with oversight of junior staff. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Understanding of GIS software and coding languages. Strong organizational, technical, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Experience designing transit (ideally BRT infrastructure) and/or transportation infrastructure. Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Additional Information Relocation assistance is not available for this position. This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in office work in Columbus, Ohio. The selected candidate must be available to work in Columbus, Ohio on a scheduled basis. In the role of Structural Engineer, we'll count on you to * Independently coordinate the work of the structural design team from schematic design through the design development and contract document phases of a project. * Collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team (architecture, MEP engineering, civil engineering, etc.) to lead the production of the structural deliverables for projects. * Analyze and design components of the superstructure for building projects. * Mentor and train structural interns and EITs within the department and across business groups. * Review structural documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines and resolve conflicts in a timely manner. * Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance. * Conduct design development and contract document work sessions at project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines. * Coordinate workload through the design phases in order to complete the documents on schedule. * Perform construction administration (CA) tasks such as submittal review, respond to requests for information (RFI's) and other coordination tasks with contractors in the field during construction. * Coordinate and assist with affected disciplines, with any addendum, change proposal requests and change orders, and incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents. * Write and edit structural specifications, select procedures, materials and their respective sizes, and complete necessary calculations. * Perform other duties as needed. Preferred Qualifications * Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Architectural Engineering; Structural emphasis. * A minimum of 4 years' structural engineering experience. * 7 years' structural engineering experience. * Experience with design of Health Care and Higher Education projects is strongly encouraged. #LI-EH1 Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering * Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered.
