As a Water Resources Co-op for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you will work closely with our team to gain experience in our Water Resources practice. Some of our services include hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, dam safety assessments and rehabilitation design, stormwater facilities design, stream and wetland restoration design, and floodplain and drainage studies. You will take part in multiple diverse and multi-disciplined projects and learn more about the consulting industry from a proven leader. About This Role
The Power Plant Shift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the onsite power plant supporting the John O. Pastore Center in Cranston, Rhode Island. Working in rotating 12-hour shifts, this role ensures continuous plant operations by monitoring two gas turbine generators and associated systems. The Power Plant Shift Operator reports directly to NORESCO's Plant Manager. Comprehensive equipment and site-specific training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and monitor major plant equipment, including:
Two gas turbine electrical generators and heat recovery steam generators
One water tube boiler and one steam turbine generator
A black start/peak load shave gas engine generator
Supporting systems such as steam/feed/condensate systems, natural gas compressors, air compressors, water treatment systems, electrical switchgear, motor control centers, pumps, motors, and control systems
Respond to emergencies to restore operations following equipment failures or plant trips
Perform city water and boiler water chemistry testing; adjust chemical dosing as required.
Conduct routine plant inspections, complete operational log sheets, and document issues.
Follow oral and written instructions accurately.
Proactively identify and address potential equipment failure indicators.
Execute planned and preventive maintenance activities.
Perform corrective and emergent maintenance as assigned.
Maintain onsite tool and spare parts inventory.
Collaborate with customers and subcontractors as assigned.
Foster and maintain positive customer relationships.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED.
1+ years' experience with operations or maintenance of power plant equipment (gas turbines, steam turbines, boilers, and/or reciprocating engines)
1+ year experience with safety related programs (LOTO, HAZMAT, PPE)
Carry up to 50 pounds up and down multi levels of stairs; able to climb 10ft ladders; comfortable working on elevated platforms.

From monitoring performance equipment to collecting samples in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, you will lead by example and provide guidance in special circumstances such as collecting and disposing of hazardous waste and samples. Throughout the day, you will evaluate results for accuracy and work to communicate findings to clients, other field staff, and to the operations department manager. By day's end, you've played a key role in ensuring proper maintenance and smooth running of water and wastewater facilities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR OUR WATER/WASTEWATER OPERATOR
High School Diploma or equivalent
Current and valid Pennsylvania Water, Wastewater, Collections, and/or Distribution license
Valid PA Driver's License and the ability to pass a background check if required
Knowledge and ability to operate vehicles, tools, power equipment, and handheld devices
Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, math skills, as well as leadership traits
Must be willing to work outdoors and be physically able to do field work
Willing to work outside of typical business hours when required to do so including nights, weekends and holidays and periodically be available by cell phone and able to work when directed to be "on-call" by his/her supervisor

Will be responsible for reporting to the A-Lead operator or supervisor any issues that pertain to your job responsibilities.
Operates a Drumming/Tote filling system to package products from designated tank to totes or drums and other downstream processes as directed.
Receives incoming shipments of products from trucks. Transfers material to designated storage location.
Learn and apply from memory operational and safety process, equipment, and procedural information such as plant shutdown, start up and operating procedures.
Must be able to understand and apply safe handling procedures on all materials used in a production area and understand SDS (Safety Data Sheets) and batch sheets.
Must have basic computer skills and the ability to navigate through multiple screens effectively.
Basic math skills, ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and compute ratio, rate, and percentages.
Climb stairs and ladders up to 40 ft frequently, work at heights as high as 5 stores above ground, wear protective breathing equipment and clothing for extended periods of time as needed.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must have some mechanical aptitude and understand basic process of disconnecting instruments, opening vessel doors and a basic understanding of pumps and how they operate.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Management.
Preferred Job Requirements:
HS/GED required.
Some previous chemical operator experience or wastewater operator experience and be familiar with batch chemical processing operations.
Preferred experience monitoring batch or continuous chemical processes via HMI. Experience operating valves and equipment manually and remotely.
Preferred experience using MRP to manage the process from receiving an order from Sales to packaging and shipment of product.

Review production Batch Sheets and SOPs prior to beginning each batch.
