Job Description AECOM is seeking a Wildlife Biologist (Biologist II) to join our Natural Resources team within AECOM's Environmental Permitting & Planning group. This is a full-time, hybrid position that will be based out of our Portland, OR office. In this role, you will conduct general wildlife surveys, protocol-level wildlife surveys, habitat mapping, and other field studies related to wildlife, vegetation, and wetlands using geographic information systems (GIS) technology. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to be responsible for projects that involve biological resources inventories and impact analysis; innovative mitigation and conservation planning; multi-disciplinary teamwork with biologists, planners, and restoration ecologists; and creative integration of natural resource analysis and project design. The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to, those listed below: * Lead wildlife surveys, potentially including vegetation and habitat mapping, throughout a variety of ecosystems in Washington and Oregon. * Conduct special-status species surveys according to agency-approved protocols. * Manage field teams and data collected during field work to ensure completeness and compliance with the survey approach. * Travel across the Pacific Northwest to conduct field work. * Develop final reports that describe field techniques and results that meet agency requirements. * Assist with local, state, and federal permitting efforts. * Assist in the development of special-status species permitting documents (e.g., ESA Section 7 biological assessments; etc.) * Perform assignments requiring interpretation and application of federal, State, and local environmental regulations. * Collaborate with diverse project teams, including coordinating with project managers, engineers, construction contractors, and specialists from a wide range of fields. * Gather, analyze, and interpret ecological data, providing support for project reports and recommendations. * Maintain accurate records of field observations and data collection processes. * Utilize GIS software to map and analyze spatial data, develop survey plans, and contribute to habitat assessments and environmental impact studies. * Work independently and as part of a team; be innovative and a problem solver. * Ensure assigned tasks stay on schedule and budget. * Stay informed about current environmental regulations, conservation practices, and scientific advancements in the field. Preferred Skills/Experience: * 3+ years of experience conducting wildlife surveys in Oregon and Washington. * 3+ years of experience writing summary reports for field investigations in Oregon and Washington. * Ability to identify common Pacific Northwest avian species by both sight and sound. * Working knowledge of special-status wildlife in Oregon and Washington, and associated state and federal environmental protections. * Ability and desire to perform fieldwork on potentially difficult terrain and during adverse weather conditions. * Proven track record in following established wildlife survey protocols, managing field data, and leading field crews. * Proven track record in utilizing GIS software to analyze spatial data, create field maps. * Experience working with construction crews and field engineers. * Strong written and oral communication skills. * Exceptional time management and problem-solving skills. HDR is looking for a Structural EIT/Designer to support our growing Building Engineering Services team in Oregon and SW Washington. The successful candidate would be seated in the Vancouver, WA office, with opportunities to work with a wider team in the Portland, OR office and other offices across the region. HDR's Building Engineering Services Group (BES) provides structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, site civil, and specialty design services for a wide variety of building and non-building (e.g. substation, industrial, docks, fisheries, data center and water treatment) structures that include public, municipal, private, and Federal project types across the region and globally to both internal and external clients. Primary Responsibilities: In the role of Structural EIT/Designer, we'll count on you to: * Conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations and assist in the preparation of drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for structural engineering projects (both buildings and non-building structures) * Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures. * Work independently on small projects under the direction of a more senior engineer or assist more senior engineers on larger projects. * Give direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed. * Perform other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications * Previous structural design experience (internship or full-time work experience) is a plus, but not required. * AutoCAD and/or Revit experience is a plus. * Master's degree in civil engineering or Structural Engineering is a plus, but not required. * Understanding of applicable design codes and specification requirements. * Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate. This position will directly report to corresponding Area Operations Leadership and have a dashed reporting line up to our national Substation Business Class Lead. This position will focus on the protection and control design matters within the power delivery substation business class. Professional Services is the "technical and consulting leadership" element of the Resources Business Group -- the entity responsible to the Business Group President for creating a group of industry recognized professional practitioners that is a competitive advantage in the marketplace, capable of solving the client's problems at competitive costs, reliable in the execution of quality professional services and client deliverables, and successful in the project management and delivery of contracted services. The Substation Physical Design Sub-Business Class Leader provides subject-matter expertise, an industry recognized reputation for professional accomplishment, and a strongly recognized internal reputation of leadership within HDR. The Substation P&C Sub-Business Class Leader provides the Substation Business Class with a company-wide, coordinated talent pool with the technical profile necessary to serve the client base, and right-sized to allow commercial success. In the role of National Substation Physical Design Sub-Business Class Leader, we'll count on you to: * Duties also include: * Drive development and implementation of a quality program within our business class to foster physical design technical growth for our junior engineers. * Drive development and implementation of a physical design training and career development program for our national business class. * Quarterly training / meetings with EITs and junior engineers across the practice to discuss overall issues, success, project experience, and lessons learned. * Technical Career path encouragement. * Creates and maintains the technical practices, standards and expectations to accomplish market sector visions, and solve client problems. Supports the technical development within the Business Class that drives marketing and commercial success. Possesses and maintains a worldclass understanding of Physical Design issues and current professional-practice approaches; and has the ability to package HDR design expertise as client solutions within the appropriate "consulting" context. This includes the development and application of technical tools, standards and techniques to enhance service quality and efficiency. Ensures that technical staff are aware of and monitoring emerging technologies. * Develop a network of technical experts / SME's to help drive technical goals for our national practice / business class * Actively supports the open communication of current/projected production needs through the Business Class organization; collaborates with BCL to influence staffing and expertise levels. * Supports the professional development of staff and the development of production tools: Best Practices, Technical Policies & Procedures, Papers & Presentations, Professional Associates credentialing, recognition of technical achievement, Practice Group activities, and Information Management and Automation Tools. * Leads proposal technical reviews (i.e. Blue Team Reviews) * Participates in root cause analysis and helps provide solutions for challenging project issues. * Participates and may lead PARR's (Project Approach Resource Review). * Achieves a 70% to 75% utilization goal by supporting projects. Preferred Qualifications * Active participant in ongoing technical working groups (both internally and externally) * Subject Matter Expert or strong knowledge of a variety of physical / outdoor design concepts.
