This position will support our Remediation team within our Environment business line. This position is expected to begin immediately. The Geologist III will serve as a team member in the office and the field, assisting project and program management with design and implementation of soil, groundwater, sediment, soil gas, and surface water investigative and remediation programs, data analysis, and report preparation. The role will be responsible for the overall management administration to project and assists in establishing project-specific objectives and policies. The department is involved in many on-going efforts and continue to utilize top talent to exceed performance expectations. The job responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to: * Collaborate with team members and project managers to meet client needs on schedule and within budget. * Utilize various techniques to generate data from remedial or investigative field work. These positions will be a direct report to the Safety Service Patrol (SSP) Supervisor and Management Team with direct public and multi-agency communications. Pay is $22.00hr. About this Opportunity Virginia's DOT Safety Service Patroller's play a key critical role in safeguarding motorists traveling the interstates by ensuring roadways are clear of debris, reporting highway maintenance issues and assisting stranded motorists. Our SSP program operates 7 days a week, 365 days per year, serving a critical role in the delivery of safety and mobility to the motoring public. As this is a 24/7/365 operation center, schedules are dictated by operational need and stated in advance and will include on call duties. Schedules may vary and individuals selected will be required to successfully complete certification training. The responsibilities of the SSP include, but are not limited to: Establishing temporary traffic control for emergency responders and providing scene assistance. Detecting incidents and disruptions in traffic. Clearing obstructions and debris from the roadway. Support reversible roadway and high-occupancy vehicle gate and tunnel operations to ensure safe and incident-free lane change functions. ERO ONLY The Safety Service Patrol also offers help to individual motorists, including: Tire change assistance. Fuel to get to the nearest gas station. Jump starts. Water for overheating radiators. Phone access to call tow / recovery services. Directions. To ensure safety, Safety Service Patrol operators are provided with special highly visible, reflective uniforms and drive specially marked vehicles. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma and or equivalent certificate (GED) or 1 year of relevant work experience in lieu of education. Be a minimum of 18 years of age. Ability to drive, using an AECOM provided vehicle, patrolling and monitoring a segment of interstate roadway in an assigned region. Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check; must also successfully complete Virginia Department of Transportation fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC). Possess a valid Driver's License and a clean driving record in the last 3 years, including no suspension of license or single violation that the department of motor vehicle treats as worth 6 demerits. Employees must also participate in monthly MVR monitoring program and maintain a satisfactory driving record as a condition of employment. Required Qualifications * BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering (other disciplines may be considered) * 10+ years of experience in water/wastewater discipline - as a W/WW Engineer and/or Project Manager, designing (study, plans and specifications) municipal water/wastewater treatment and collection/distribution projects; * PE license in VA is required, or ability to receive in 6 months; * Progressive experience in the evaluation, design, permitting and construction administration of water/wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, water storage and distribution facilities and wastewater collection systems; * Demonstrated project management experience, including budget and schedule monitoring and control responsibilities; * Experienced in client relations and business development; * Leader and team player possessing strong planning and organizational skills; * Local client experience is preferred but not required; * Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective client presentations and written report preparation Preferred Qualifications: * Master's Degree preferred. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY The TOC in Virginia Beach, VA houses a 24/7/365 program that delivers incident management, dispatching, and traveler information services on Virginia's roadways. AECOM operations staff serve at the TOC facility on shifts to continuously respond to changing traffic conditions and impacts to traffic flow and safety through direct communication with first responders, VDOT staff, Virginia State Police (VSP) and mobility stakeholders of VDOT. The routine responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Use software and applications to control and monitor various Intelligent Transportation Systems devices located along freeways, such as closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, dynamic message signs (DMS), and Highway Advisory Radios (HAR) located on the interstate infrastructure. Monitor camera video and other information sources for the detection and verification of events that impact traffic flow and safety, such as motorist assists, traffic crashes, debris removal, abandoned vehicles, stalled vehicles, maintenance activity, and construction activity.
