Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for aerodynamic design of turbine engine flow paths (inlet, exhaust, secondary flows) on high performance UAV.
Conduct low, mid, and high fidelity CFD simulations to assess aerodynamic, mechanical, thermal, and aircraft performance impact of designs.
Develop and validate aerodynamic models using combinations of CFD, wind tunnel testing, and/or flight test data.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (structures, propulsion, controls, systems engineering) to integrate aerodynamic insights into the overall design.
Assist in the development of bench test, wind tunnel test, and flight test plans and data reduction and analysis.
Ownership of simulation propulsion modules and modeling fidelity.

Qualifications:
A Masters's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field is strongly preferred. Bachelor's degree plus relevant experience required.
3-5 years of inlet/duct design and solving problems in aero-propulsion and integration of aerodynamics for aircraft and/or UAVs.
Demonstrable experience building and maintaining low and mid fidelity aerodynamic modeling tools.
Applied experience with a Navier-Stokes based CFD tools (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM, Fun3D) including geometry preparation, mesh generation, and simulation debugging. .
Experience with data visualization tools, e.g. MATLAB & Python, Tecplot, ParaView and working in a version control environment, e.g. git.
Industrial wind tunnel testing: model design, techniques, instrumentation, and data reduction.
Applied designs in subsonic, transonic, and high-speed aerodynamics.
U.S. Citizenship or equivalent status required for defense-related work.

Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to: Provide Modeling and Simulation (M&S) and data analysis for Electro Optical (EO) and Infrared (IR) cutting-edge technologies Use data analysis and/or software tools to generate scientific results to support R&D programmatic decisions Provide direct support for computational and network aspects of programs Combine multiple disparate EO/IR modeling tools into a singular digital engineering tool used for multi-disciplinary analysis and optimization Document system database architecture instantiation, model interoperability, and cross-application date communication Create and maintain a common data repository Provide recommendations on model interoperability standards, interface definitions, and assist with engagements across industry partners to establish uniform modeling protocols Provide analytical/modeling subject matter expertise advisement to senior engineers, program managers, and senior leaders to help drive sound technological decisions Evaluate proposed projects for feasibility and applicability to relevant miliary mission areas Participate in strategic planning and development of systems architectures as well as recommend requirements for new projects Identify and recommend alternative or new Research and Development (R&D) strategies Generate documents, briefings, roadmaps, and planning materials to support the customer mission Work closely with program managers, lead project engineers, and program teams Active DoD Secret Clearance with ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance Experience with EO sensors, IR Search and Track (IRST) systems, Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR), laser optics, image processing, signal processing, and statistics Strong EO/IR data analysis and performance modeling computing skills MATLAB, Python, C++ and database management expertise is required Proficient knowledge of software development and/or software maintenance Experience processing image/signal data and a working knowledge on data-basing, data storage, and data archiving Sufficient EO/IR experience to produce trusted results and communicate recommendations to the customer Ability to develop and present analysis results briefings to senior leadership Experience in generating requirements analysis and definitions at the mission and systems engineering levels Must work well within a team environment to identify and apply best practices Strong skills in documenting inputs, outputs, and requirements 5-10 years' experience with M&S and data analysis, MATLAB, Python, C++ and database management Familiarity with EO modeling tools such as MODTRAN, LEEDR, and DIRSIG Clear and effective oral and written communications skills Education: Bachelor's degree in, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or related technical field.
A Master's degree in a similar field is highly desired.

Roles and Responsibilities
* Understand and apply technical requirements from specifications and engineering drawings that impact materials and processes and provide guidance to multidisciplinary teams
* Define and substantiate material and process selections on new designs & changes to design
* Evaluate, compare and obtain property data to guide material selection for component improvements
* Evaluate impacts to material characteristics for initial part qualifications, subsequent process changes and repairs
* Research component history and material properties to apply lessons learned from field experience, manufacturing evolutions, and development programs
* Perform metallurgical evaluations of engine run hardware and manufacturing issues
* Document and communicate investigation results through technical reports and presentations
* Identify Materials and Process technology gaps and propose solutions for component durability or future designs
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 4 years related coating process and/or application engineering experience
Desired Characteristics
* B.S, M.S. or PhD degree in Materials Engineering, Materials Science or Metallurgy from an accredited college or university
* Familiarity or research in the following competencies:
* Nickel/cobalt base superalloys, Ceramic coatings
* Processes (e.g. casting, forging, heat treating, brazing, welding, coating,)
