    The **Machine Learning Engineer II** will be a member of the Learning and Active Perception (LEAP) group in AV's MacCready Works division and support the development of a variety of innovative computer vision capabilities (object detection, classification, localization, and tracking) and other image/video analytics for defense and commercial applications. These development efforts require a range of skills and tools across traditional engineering, computer science, and mathematical disciplines including but not limited to data management, computer vision, machine learning, optimization, and deep convolutional neural networks. This position will span multiple stages of the development process including requirements gathering, algorithm design, prototyping, test and evaluation, and validation and verification testing. This specific role also involves on-site support for experimentation and fielded systems requiring a significant amount of extended travel, both domestic and international. **Duties** - Support development of computer vision and machine learning (ML) algorithms capable of object detection, classifying, localizing, and tracking objects of interest from a variety of stationary and mobile sensor platforms with the primary purpose of real-time automated target recognition (ATR) - Perform visual imagery data science to inform data collection, data labeling, and data selection for training deep computer vision ML algorithms, train the algorithms using the data, and validate data selection and algorithm design through a series of purpose-designed experiments. Basic Qualification for Principal Test Engineer (level 3): Bachelor of science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or similar discipline oriented to electronic hardware / instrumentation plus 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree with 3 years' experience. 3+ years' experience building and maintaining automated test equipment (ATE). 2 years' experience programming National Instruments LabVIEW and TestStand test software (C++ and OOP is a plus). Must be US citizen. Ability to obtain Government Secret clearance after hiring. Digital and Analog Electronics knowledge and proven experience. Knowledge in Electrical and Functional Testers with: Interfaces, Pneumatic Systems, Communication protocols, PXI and GPIB instruments test platforms (Vision Systems is a plus). Work on site with flexible work arrangements. Able to travel 10% of time (domestic). Solid communications skills and ability to clearly establish verbal communication with remote audience. Ability to manage multiple and concurrent tasks while maintaining a sense of urgency. Excellent problem-solving skills, teamwork, self-motivation, leadership. Desired Skills: Responsible for development and modification of In-Circuit (ICT) programs on Keysight 3070 systems. Support existing products in production. Primary Level Salary Range: $77,600.00 - $116,400.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $95,800.00 - $133,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
