As a Mechanical Senior Project Engineer in our Sacramento region, you will help us empower our clients to achieve energy-efficient building solutions, save global environments, and create a better, greener future for all.

In this role, you will build and maintain relationships with clients and project partners and is responsible for the overall design process on assigned projects within a particular discipline. Within your role, you will also develop innovative and unique design solutions to align with project, client and project partner needs and leads the team in implementing solutions.
Expertise of our most successful Mechanical Senior Project Engineer:
BSME/BSAE (or other engineering discipline with applicable experience).
15+ years of experience designing HVAC building systems for research, Healthcare or Higher Education facilities.
Professional engineering registration required.
Proficiency in computer operation for engineering design programs (i.e. Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Navisworks) preferred.

Job Summary/Responsibilities
Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks
Lead the preparation of deliverables and products such as presentation materials, calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) for commercial, governmental, and institutional facilities
Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids
Lead the mechanical design of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems for commercial and institutional facilities
Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software (AutoCAD, Carrier HAP, Trane Trace)
Work independently as well as guide junior engineers as needed on projects

As a subject matter specialist in the area of EHV transmission lines this position will be expected to provide expert level support the organization on 500kV and 765kV transmission line designs. The position will involve coordinating with multiple internal and external departments to manage the life cycle of EHV transmission line projects.
Function as a subject matter specialist and technical resource for EHV transmission line designs, specifically for 500kv and above.
Responsible for execution of engineering projects including the technical development of design deliverables.
Supervise and direct the engineering project team in the execution of EHV transmission line designs. Mentor and coach team members.
Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with client functional leads and stakeholders.
Lead efforts to ensure engineering projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.
Communicate and consult with appropriate stakeholders and supervisors.
Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure designs comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements.
Perform independent reviews of engineering designs prepared by others including calculations and drawing preparation.
Prepare reports that project information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements.
Analyze issues and provide solutions to improve results.

Essential skills and experience:
BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program or a management/business degree.
10+ years of specific experience in Project Management of Utility Transmission projects.
5+ years of experience in 500kV and/or 765kV transmission line design
Expertise within the electrical considerations for 765kV transmission lines
Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary teams.
Knowledge of engineering standards including NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE and ANSI.
Experience with serving as a firm/client liaison in a support or lead role.
Ability to multitask and manage multiple competing priorities is critical to success.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in a collaborative team setting.
Willing to travel to project sites and/or attend client meetings
Valued but not required skills and experience:
MS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.

In this role you will:
lead structural engineering design efforts on diverse building projects;
collaborate closely with architects and engineers across disciplines;
be responsible for planning, coordinating, mentoring, and assigning engineering tasks to other structural engineers on the team and contribute to team development;
oversee structural personnel workplans for multiple projects and develop fees for new services and marketing proposals;
keep the design team Project Manager informed of structural progress and communicate any changes in project schedule, services, and scope;
perform structural analysis, calculations, design and detailing of various building framing and foundation systems, in a variety of material types, and in accordance with applicable codes;
be responsible for the development and completion of project structural drawings and construction documents;
function as the primary structural engineering contact during the construction administration phase, including attending coordination meetings, reviewing shop drawing submittals, responding to RFIs and field inquiries, and conducting site visits for structural observation and field reports;
collaborate with structural engineers across offices through virtual teaming, knowledge sharing, and cross-office project support to address structural design needs and foster continuous learning and consistency firm-wide; and
participate in construction administration and site observations.
You will need to have:
Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering from an accredited university; Master's degree preferred
8-10 years of experience in the structural design and analysis of steel, concrete, masonry, and wood building structures, with a focus on laboratory, healthcare, corporate, commercial, and educational facilities
Licensed Professional Engineering (PE) and Licensed Structural Engineer (SE) in state of California required
Extensive knowledge of California Building Code (CBC), ASCE 7 & ASCE 41, ASIC, ACI, NDS, and other applicable codes and standards
Proficient in the use of structural analysis and design software such as ETABS, SAP, SAFE, RAM, RISA, Enercalc, or similar software
Exceptional planning and organizational skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Self-motivated and proactive, with a strong willingness to take initiative and embrace new challenges
Effective at collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, consultants, and clients, to develop integrated design solutions
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to lead client meetings and present technical concepts clearly
Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, budgets, schedules, and deliverable concurrently
A passion for creating innovative and enduring design solutions
Ability to work effectively with diverse personalities and adapt to varying management styles
Salary Information:
The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA's robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs. Salary Range: $100,700 - $131,400 depending on qualifications and experience level.

In this role, you will build and maintains relationships with clients and project partners and will be responsible for the overall power systems design process on assigned project. AEI projects may require experience in some or all of the following expertise: substation design, utility coordination, relaying and protection, switchgear automation, dynamic load analysis, SCADA design, Vdc distribution, DER and renewable energy generation, battery energy storage systems, microgrids, and campus distribution for medium and high voltage. You will develop innovative and unique design solutions to align with project, client and project partner needs and leads the team in implementing solutions in the power, mission critical, manufacturing, automotive, higher ed, pharmaceutical, federal, and institutional markets.
Expertise of our most successful Senior Electrical Project Engineer:
BSEE from an ABET accredited program.
Professional engineering registration required. Ability to obtain licensure in various states as needed.
10+ years of experience designing MV or HV power distribution, and/or generation, and/or transmission systems.
Proficiency in computer operation for power engineering design programs (power systems modeling, SCCAF).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work well in a team environment, including carrying out appropriate follow-through with others, mentoring, delegating work, and giving and receiving constructive feedback. Communicates well with clients, project partners and with individuals at all levels in the organization.
Effective skills to help you flourish:
Experience in medium and/or high voltage substation design.
