1975

Founded in 1975, Affordable Care, LLC is America’s leading consumer retail healthcare company exclusively focused on tooth replacement solutions, serving affiliated dentists at ~400 practices in 42 states across the United States.

1981

Project HOPE has published Health Affairs since 1981.

1993

Bill Clinton’s health care reform attempt in 1993–94, said that it would support reform.

2009

Following the 2010 midterm elections, the Republicans—who had pledged during the campaign to repeal the health care bill—gained control of the House of Representatives.

Since its passage in 2010, the Affordable Care Act has grown to provide health coverage to more than 31 million people when its Medicaid expansion is included, and survived three challenges before the Supreme Court.

2011

In one of their first acts, the House Republicans, with three Democrats, voted in January 2011 to repeal the legislation, 245–189.

2012

Obama was re-elected November 2012, defeating the GOP candidate who promised to dismantle Obamacare.

State Medicaid agencies that provide preventive services to beneficiaries with no copayments get a 1% increase in federal matching payments.Open enrollment under new ACA exchanges for the 2014 plan year begins in October.

The Affordable Care Act was also challenged by the attorneys general in more than a dozen states who filed suit, charging that the reform, in particular the individual mandate (the requirement that most Americans carry health insurance by 2014 or pay a penalty), was unconstitutional.

2015

In 2015, employers with at least 100 employees had to start paying a fee if they didn't offer health insurance.

2016

Obama administration ties about 30% of Medicare payments to alternative payment models to providers by the end of 2016.

The mandate required individuals to purchase health insurance or pay a fine. It started at $95, but the fee increased to $695 by 2016, and high-income adults had to pay up to 2.5% of their income.

2017

In 2017, Republicans controlled the House and introduced bills to repeal and replace the law.

2018
