The company was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in 1963.
By 1987, 42 mutual companies had joined forces to become three companies.
In 1999, those three insurance companies merged to form FM Global to offer even greater insurance capacity and loss prevention engineering services to client owners.
In early 2001, The American Banking Group acquired a 23.04% stake in Tokyo AFM, and the German reinsurance group Bayern Re acquired 20.54% of the company’s shares.
Two years later, in 2012, the company created an Asia/Pacific division based in Singapore to support the growth of its mutual policyholders in locations in the Asia/Pacific region.
