Premium pay positions require a commitment of 6 months and a minimum of 36 hours a week. Two years of clinical experience is required. Positions are non-benefitted with the exception of retirement and proof of current health insurance is required. The position will float to several facilities within the health system.
SCOPE OF POSITION
The Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for the provision of nursing care for assigned patients within the established standards of evidence-based practice and organizational policy and procedures. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously within the scope of professional standards and the rules and regulations established by the TN and/or VA State Board of Nursing. The RN provides patient care that is appropriate to age and developmental level of assigned patients. The RN appropriately delegates care provision to other members of the nursing care team consistent with role, licensure and scope of practice. Performs nursing assessments and delivers care as an integral part of the care team. Works toward favorable outcomes while delivering safe high quality healthcare. Accurately reports and documents in the Electronic Medical Record and electronic documentation systems that support the RN's clinical and team member role. He/she has a working knowledge of the nursing process and demonstrates skill in developing and guiding collaborative collegial practice that delivers safe competent care. He/she demonstrates sensitivity and understanding of the diverse cultural backgrounds of our patients and caregivers. The position involves maintaining current clinical knowledge and competency for skills related to the clinical RN role where assigned. Demonstrates the ability to use critical thinking skills in the implementation of all phases of the nursing process. He/she actively participates in patient care quality and performance improvement through data collection and aggregation as assigned. The RN serves as a professional role model as a caregiver, mentor, teacher and resource for students, peers and other providers on the health care team. Must be able to wear a respirator mask and other personal protective apparel as indicated in the provision of patient care.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE

The RN is a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a minimum of an AD degree/Diploma and is currently licensed to practice as a professional nurse in the appropriate state. Must be able to complete job related competencies as deemed necessary to the performance of the RN role in the nursing department of employment.

Valid RN license
AHA BLS is required. Additional advanced life support courses may be required for the RN in specific critical care departments including but not limited to AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, AAP NRP.

Responsibilities


The Internal Agency RN Clinical Nurse- Periop Surgical Services is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment that is administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and is supported through the WellStar Shared Governance Model. The framework for practice is steered by the WellStar Professional Practice Model, 5-Star Nursing and evidence based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the WellStar Core Competencies.
It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, it is expected that the individual upholds the voice of the patient, system policies and procedures while supporting service excellence goals.
Must be willing to work at least one contract assignment during time frame of Oct- March. Preferred travel experience as well as Epic EMR experience. Get access to medical coverage and 403b. Access SpringHealth Wellness Services.

Required Minimum Education:
Graduate of an accredited/approved school of nursing: Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing preferred

Required Minimum Licensure:
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia or hold a privilege to practice in the State of Georgia under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).

Required Minimum Certification:
Must have a current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification from the American Heart Association on the first day of employment in position based on the requirements for the specialty in which RN is
hired

Preferred Certification:
Certification in a National specialty preferred.

Required Minimum Experience:
1 Year of Experience Required, 2 Years of Experience Preferred

Required Minimum Skills:
Ability to read, write and speak English language, optimize the use of technology to support clinical care and holds basic computer skills; Strong interpersonal, collaborative skills along with customer service skills required; Ability to function in a fast paced environment and respond to emergencies in using a decisive, composed and respectful manner; Possess excellent time management skills; Practices nursing using evidence and analytical skills along with possessing strong critical thinking skills.
