Job Summary

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Oversees all aspects of the accounting for Emory's endowment including period close processes, preparation of endowment spending distribution to schools and units and related reporting, and creation of new endowments.
Provides on-going customer service to schools and units and executive management regarding endowment results.
Collaborates closely with Emory Investment Management to ensure operational targets and reporting are coordinated with endowment accounting. Works closely with Emory Finance leadership in preparing the annual endowment spending budget and 5-year forecast.
Manages investments component of the annual financial statement audit including preparing key audit schedules, footnotes to the financial statements, and preparation of the consolidated statement of cash flows.
Responsible for accounting for all other investments of Emory University including charitable remainder unitrusts, annuity trusts and charitable gift annuity pool.
Also collaborates with Advancement and Alumni Relations to manage accounting for contributions receivable and gifts including tracking of pledge payments and release from restrictions.
Is responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
Manages staff to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation, board materials preparation, and the support of budget and forecast activities.
Interacts with Office of General Counsel, Emory Investment Management, the Controller, chief business officers in schools/units and senior management.
Oversees accounting functions, including intercompany accounting, financial reporting, balance sheet management and income statement variance analytics.
Ensures an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year end close.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The Department of Epidemiology, Rollins School of Public Health (RSPH), Emory University is seeking a post-doctoral fellow in HIV or Perinatal Epidemiology. Current collaborative studies focus on how HIV affects the development and progression of cardiometabolic comorbidities across the life course. Based on background, skills, and interests, the fellow would have the opportunity to work on a range of funded projects including relationships between in utero HIV exposure, early life infection burden, metabolomic trajectories, and cardiometabolic health in a South African birth cohort, HIV infection and cardiovascular health in women, and incidence and drivers of disparities in cardiometabolic health in a cohort of women of reproductive age with and without HIV. The fellow is expected to increase his/her methodological and substantive knowledge of perinatal and HIV epidemiology, build skills for developing and implementing research studies, and have opportunities to lead and/or co-author manuscript publications. S/he will perform population health research activities, including developing and implementing research protocols, performing data analyses, preparing manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals, delivering presentations at scientific meetings, assisting in the development of grant proposals, and providing other research and methodological support for existing and ongoing studies. Opportunities to develop and write funding proposals are also available.
The fellow will be under the mentorship of Principal Investigator Dr. Angela Bengtson and will have the opportunity to collaborate with investigators at Emory in RSPH and Emory School of Medicine, as well as collaborators South Africa and Australia.
The fellow will be based at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, with a start date of Winter/Spring 2026. This fellowship is a one-year, full-time position, with a possible one- to two-year extension, based on funding and performance. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with NIH standards.

The Division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement utilizes resources, technology, and business for the purpose of constituent engagement, donor research and solicitation, and stewardship throughout Emory University and Health Systems. We are currently seeking a Lead Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations.
The Corporate and Foundation Relations team partners with schools and units across Emory University and Emory Healthcare to provide corporate and foundation fundraising and engagement through the development of mutually beneficial relationships. By working with Emory faculty and leadership, they create awareness of Emory's distinctive strengths with a range of philanthropic organizations. This position will report to the Managing Senior Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Creates and implements strategies for managing foundation and corporate prospects and soliciting them for major and transformational gifts.
Leads this process with school/unit Development Directors, Deans, Faculty, and University Leadership.
Partners with advancement officers, faculty, and Emory University and Emory Healthcare leadership to drive enterprise-wide efforts to increase philanthropic support from foundations and corporations, corporate executive and employee engagement, economic development and entrepreneurship, research collaborations, and corporate student engagement.
Proactively identifies, stewards, and cultivates an active portfolio of foundation and corporate prospects on behalf of a school/unit.
Stays apprised of industry best practices.
Develops and negotiates school/unit programmatic project ideas for funding consideration aligning school/unit needs with foundation and corporate goals/interests.
Leads meetings and partnerships between prospects, schools/unit and central Foundation and Corporate Relations offices.
Serves as primary liaison between school/unit and central Foundation and Corporate Relations offices.
Writes/prepares complex proposals for submission to prospects.
Stays abreast of complex application or solicitation requirements.
Writes, reviews, and edits letters, briefings, and other fundraising materials.
Communicates and negotiates ideas in ways that are donor-centric, while also beneficial to Emory.
Identifies foundation and corporate prospects to be researched to evaluate feasibility/alignment with interests/goals.
Oversees maintenance of records and reports.
Hosts campus visits.
Travels to meet with donors as needed.
Performs related responsibilities as required.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS: In addition to the duties outlined above, the Lead Director may be required to:
Meet department metrics for visit preparation, qualification, contact reports, visits, referrals, and accurate coding using the CRM system.
Represent the department, school/unit, division, or University.
May manage a board and engage volunteers or broad solicitation program.
This position requires coming in person two days a week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree and six years of experience in corporate and/or foundation setting, or related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful candidates will have experience as a lead solicitor, closing annual and major gifts of ($100,000+) from foundation or corporate prospects.
Prior experience working with comprehensive campaigns, alumni engagement, non-profit, or a university setting.
Experience working with various technologies including advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, mass email applications, database and project management software, and CRM systems.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving skills with attention to detail, the ability to work with ambiguity, navigate a complex work environment, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
PRIMARY DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES ( PRE - AWARD ) Provides guidance and expertise to grant-seekers to identify appropriate funding opportunities by conducting electronic and manual searches and disseminating this information to interested individuals; Guides and supports faculty and staff during the proposal preparation and submission process; Assists grant-seekers with the preparation of budgets and financial portions of applications ensuring content is accurate and complete; Gathers institutional data and boilerplate language for proposal narratives in support of selected grant applications; Develops and maintains a library of reference documentation, including information such as funding agency requirements, forms, checklists (and uploads to Spelman's Faculty Collaboration Hub); Reviews and interprets guidelines, proposals, and budgets to ensure compliance with college policies, federal regulations, and funder requirements; Monitors the progress of internal approvals and signatures to ensure timely submission of proposals; Interprets both funding agency and college policies and procedures and disseminates newly available information on funding regulations; Assists in planning, developing and conducting training programs to educate faculty and staff in the policies and procedures for proposal development and sponsored project administration.
