Safety Education Instructors are responsible for instructing American Red Cross Adult CPR/AED and First Aid Courses and/or American Red Cross Lifeguarding Courses to a variety of ages, experiences, learning styles and abilities of participants and meeting the outlined objectives. Safety Education Instructors must demonstrate confidence and the ability to use course materials effectively, classroom management and know how to use the material effectively. Within all courses, instructors are responsible for the safety of participants, including ensuring that all teaching and practice areas are free of hazards and that materials and equipment are safe. Instructors are expected to complete needed paperwork and assists in the lifeguard pre-employment screenings and in-services. The UCDFCM Global Health (GH) Fellowship is a one (1) or two (2) year family medicine fellowship designed for physicians interested in caring for underserved/vulnerable populations while strengthening their clinical and scholarly skills in global health. The two-year fellowship includes the option for tuition remission for completion of Masters of Public Health (MPH) in Global Health. Fellows will deepen their competencies in the following six areas of Global and Underserved Health: Describe and address the determinants of health as a foundation in global and underserved health, Interpret health in the context of the principles of community and population health, Provide high-quality care in low resource settings and for vulnerable populations, Demonstrate effective communication and cultural humility in patient, team, and community relationships, Advocate effectively on an individual, local, and national level within the context of global health ethics, Apply the attitudes and skills of sustainable servant-leadership in multiple healthcare settings including interdisciplinary teams.
