How will you contribute:
Ahern is seeking qualified applicants for the Sprinkler Fitter Apprenticeship program to work within the Stevens Point, Wausau, and Waupaca, WI areas. This is a 5-year apprenticeship program working side-by-side with a journeymen sprinkler fitter installing automatic fire protection systems. Your employment relationship will be governed by a collective bargaining agreement. Apprentices will complete on-the-job training and 5 years of corresponding coursework toward becoming a Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter. Upon completion of the apprenticeship program, Journeymen earn over double the apprentice hourly rate!
What you need to qualify:
Qualified candidates must be at least 18 years old, have a High School Diploma or equivalent, have a clean driving record to operate company vehicles, be able to travel for the position, and pass an appropriate drug screen and physical (the job entails a great deal of lifting and climbing). Successful candidates must be self-starters, have a strong mechanical background, have a good working and learning attitude, and be able to work in a fast-paced construction environment (both in and outdoors).

How will you contribute?
As a Wisconsin Licensed Service Sprinkler Fitter Foreman, you will work on service projects throughout Western WI, as far north as Ashland and as far south as Prairie du Chien, depending on where you live. In this role, you will maintain and inspect sprinkler systems within a variety of industries, including heavy industrial, commercial, schools, healthcare, and food plants. Depending on your interests, you would also have the opportunity to work with our contract teams, if you would like. Your employment relationship will be governed by a collective bargaining agreement. What do you need to qualify?
Ideal candidate will be working as a journeyman or foreman through National 669 and have experience performing work orders, deficiency repairs, and inspections for diverse industries. **Pipefitter** This person will be able to lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems. Other duties may be assigned.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders.
+ Attach pipes to walls, structures and fixtures, such as radiators or tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools or welding equipment.
+ Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.
+ Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair according to specifications.
+ Select pipe sizes and types and related materials, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications.
+ Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment, following specifications and using hand and power tools.
+ Install automatic controls used to regulate pipe systems.
+ Turn valves to shut off steam, water, or other gases or liquids from pipe sections, using valve keys or wrenches.
+ Remove and replace worn components.
+ Inspect work sites for obstructions and to ensure that holes will not cause structural weakness.
+ Operate motorized pumps to remove water from flooded manholes, basements, or facility floors.
+ Dip nonferrous piping materials in a mixture of molten tin and lead to obtain a coating that prevents erosion or galvanic and electrolytic action.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required for this Position:
**Education** - no minimum education requirements.
**Experience** - 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience.
