Under the direction of the classroom teacher and special education teacher, the aide supports students with disabilities in accessing instruction, developing independence, and participating safely in school activities. About the Team The Part-Time Lunch Aide at Banning Lewis Preparatory Academy in Colorado Springs, CO, will help with the transition of students to/from the lunchroom (Monday-Friday 11am-2pm). The Special Education Instructional Aide provides instructional and student support in a special education setting. Under the direction of the classroom teacher and special education teacher, the aide supports students with disabilities in accessing instruction, developing independence, and participating safely in school activities. This role helps create a structured, inclusive, and supportive learning environment aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Key Responsibilities Instructional Support Support students individually or in small groups by reinforcing lessons, assisting with academic tasks, adapting materials, and supporting the use of instructional and assistive technology as directed by the teacher. Prepare treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols. Prepare patients for physical therapy treatment by welcoming, comforting, providing and/or assisting patients into physical therapy apparel or apertures. Provide information to patients by answering questions and requests and allaying fears. Help treat patients by applying heat packs and ice packs, assisting patients into the gym, helping patients onto exercise equipment, monitoring motion, tracking walking time and distance, measuring mobility, and performing prescribed exercises and strengthening techniques. Educate patients by demonstrating proper use of equipment and exercise routines. Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Provide equipment and supplies by sterilizing and delivering equipment and supplies to treatment area, positioning equipment for therapist access, and positioning patient on equipment. Education: Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology or Exercise Science preferred 6 months+ related experience preferred.
