SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Complies with State Law and District policies and regulations.
Maintains a safe environment for students, conducive to learning.
Establishes, shares, and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
Keeps and maintains appropriate records and files as needed for the ISS room (examples, student's attendance and assignments to/from teachers.)
Assist the administration in the collecting and returning of teacher assignments for students assigned to in-school suspension without interrupting classroom instruction.
Maintains a structured environment, within ISS room (including student's attendance, rules and maintaining a quiet learning environment.)
Hold students responsible for finishing and correcting all work assigned.
Assist in constantly monitoring students, by remaining in the ISS room with them at all times. Students should not be seen running errands or walking the building with the ISS aide.
Only admit students to the ISS room that have been assigned by administrators via a referral.
Maintain confidentiality, unquestionable integrity about the students you have or are working with in ISS.
When no students have been assigned to ISS, follow other duties assigned by administration.
QUALIFICATIONS

Woolfolk In-School Suspension Aide is directly responsible to the principal and under the supervision of the principal's designee. The function of the In-School Suspension Aide will be to provide a safe, structured learning environment where students are taught conflict resolution and social/emotional strategies needed to return to their classroom with a positive attitude. The In-School Suspension Aide will assist with academic assignments provided by the classroom teacher(s).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Complies with State Law and District policies and regulations.
Maintains a safe environment for students, conducive to learning.
Establishes, shares, and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
Keeps and maintains appropriate records and files as needed for the ISS room (examples, student's attendance and assignments to/from teachers.)
Assist the administration in the collecting and returning of teacher assignments for students assigned to in-school suspension without interrupting classroom instruction.
Maintains a structured environment, within ISS room (including student's attendance, rules and maintaining a quiet learning environment.)
Hold students responsible for finishing and correcting all work assigned.
Assist in constantly monitoring students, by remaining in the ISS room with them at all times. Students should not be seen running errands or walking the building with the ISS aide.
Only admit students to the ISS room that have been assigned by administrators via a referral.
Maintain confidentiality, unquestionable integrity about the students you have or are working with in ISS.
When no students have been assigned to ISS, follow other duties assigned by administration.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Two years college (48 hours minimum) including 9 hours of Mathematics and 9 hours of English or an Associate degree/or higher or pass the test stipulated by the Louisiana State Department of Education. Some previous experience working with children preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students and/or parents.
