This includes intervening in crisis situations and restraining a student who becomes a danger to himself/herself and others. * Assist and intervene in situations such as prevention of self-abusive and aggressive behaviors through use of District Crisis Management training. * Helps students follow teachers' instructions through physical management such as prevention of self abusive and/or aggressive behaviors in which students may engage. * Assumes responsibility for learning and adapting to each student's special medical, physical, communicative and emotional needs. * Works with assigned student or small group of students to develop Fine/Gross and social motor skills, and conduct exercise activities assigned by the teacher. * Assists assigned students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty. * Assists students during transition from class to class. * Keeps teacher informed of special needs or problems of assigned students. * Keeps documentation of students' medical procedures, behavior patterns, etc. * Participates in staff development programs, faculty meetings, and special events as needed. * Maintains confidentiality. * Performs other work-related duties as assigned by Special Education teacher. * Upholds and enforces school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy.
