Public Service Aides are non-sworn, unarmed civilian employees with no arrest or enforcement powers. Under general supervision, this class is responsible for public safety work in various patrol precincts of the Sheriff's Office. An employee in this class performs a variety of duties in support of certified law enforcement personnel including preliminary non-violent investigations, minor crime scene processing and other routine, non-emergency, law enforcement activities in order to allow certified law enforcement personnel to handle higher priority incidents and to provide a more efficient and effective response to calls for service. Performs related law enforcement activities as directed, but will have no direct contact or involvement with criminal suspects.The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. The Transport Aide is responsible for safely transporting PPEC center children to and from the facility, supporting nursing staff during transport, and assisting with basic care needs as directed. Conduct pre -transport and post -transport diaper checks; change diapers if needed before leaving for home. Support classroom or daycare activities when not engaged in transport duties, as directed by the RN or facility manager. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the transport van and ensure required supplies are stocked. Document check -in and check -out activity in Procare software. Follow all safety guidelines, emergency procedures, and infection -control standards during transport. Report to the nurse in charge before ending the shift or clocking out. Follow the daycare's lunch break and shift policies.
