Under general supervision, performs a variety of support duties for the Polk County Jail. Oversees the activities of inmate workers performing general housekeeping and sanitation duties of facilities; receives, inspects, inventories, records, stores, and transfers inmate property; performs commissary activities including ordering, inventory, receipt, distribution, and storage; ensures an adequate supply inventory, maintains records, and prepares activity reports; performs other duties as assigned in support of the operations of the jail facilities.
* Oversees the work of inmate workers who assist with mopping of floors, washing walls, dusting, distribution and storage of laundry material, and other tasks required to support the operations of the jail; reports problems and/or incidents to sworn personnel; ensures an adequate supply inventory; maintains records and prepares activity reports.
* Moves cart(s) and drives van to distribute supplies, equipment, laundry, commissary items, and meals.
* Receives, inspects for contraband foreign objects, records, tracks, secures, and stores inmate property; coordinates the transfer, return, inventory, and tracing of inmate property between jail facilities and other institutions; ensures property storage area is organized and clean; coordinates the disposition of unclaimed property; maintains accurate records and prepares activity reports regarding the processing and handling of inmate property.
* Ensures the accurate and timely ordering, inventory, receipt, distribution, and storage of commissary items; debits inmate accounts; maintains accounting records and reports of inmate account activity.
* Drives a van to pick up and deliver supplies and equipment.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
* Knowledge of basic supply inventory and accounting practices and principles.
* Knowledge of office and departmental policies and procedures.
* Basic understanding of the laws, rules, regulations, and standards pertaining to the operation of the Polk County Jail.

Administer medications (oral, topical, non-parenteral only) as delegated by a supervising nurse in accordance with Iowa Board of Nursing and Board of Pharmacy regulations.

We are seeking Certified Medication Aides (CMA)/Recovery Support Specialist to join our care team. In this role, you will work under the supervision of a Licensed Nurse (RN or LPN) to assist in administering oral, topical, and non-parenteral medications in accordance with physician/provider orders, state regulations, and facility policy. Your contributions help ensure safe, compassionate care for clients engaged in the recovery process.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Administer medications (oral, topical, non-parenteral only) as delegated by a supervising nurse in accordance with Iowa Board of Nursing and Board of Pharmacy regulations.
Accurately document all medication administration in the EMR and report any errors or variances immediately.
Observe and report client responses to medications, noting adverse reactions or side effects promptly to the supervising nurse.
Assist in maintaining accurate medication counts, secure storage, and chain-of-custody procedures.
