Overview: The Engineer is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of the hotel's facilities and building systems. This position is a line-level role responsible for the day-to-day maintenance needs and requests, as well as performing preventive maintenance in guest rooms as directed by the Director or Assistant Director of Engineering. The Engineer will work collaboratively to ensure a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for guests and staff. Key Responsibilities: Maintenance and Repair: Perform day-to-day general maintenance and repairs throughout the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas. Execute repairs and maintenance related to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems as directed. Respond promptly and efficiently to maintenance requests from guests and staff. Conduct preventive maintenance on guest room equipment and systems as scheduled and directed by the Director or Assistant Director of Engineering. Identify and report any major maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damaged items to the leadership team. Utilize maintenance tracking systems (e.g., HotSos) to document work performed and report issues. Operational Support: Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including OSHA standards and Lockout/Tagout procedures, particularly those related to engineering and maintenance. Operate and maintain cleaning equipment safely and effectively. Handle guest requests and inquiries promptly and courteously. Handle chemicals and cleaning agents according to safety guidelines when applicable to maintenance tasks. Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment for meetings and social gatherings as needed. Guest Interaction & Satisfaction: Professionally interact with guests when performing maintenance repairs or system troubleshooting in occupied rooms. Communicate effectively with guests regarding the status of repairs and expected completion times. Ensure guest satisfaction by minimizing disruption and leaving guest rooms in excellent condition after completing work. Qualifications Qualifications: Prior experience in a maintenance or engineering role, preferably within a hotel or hospitality environment, is a plus. HVAC License and Local Fire Safety Director (LFSD) certificate are preferred. Skills: Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building maintenance. Ability to troubleshoot common maintenance issues. Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work. Ability to work independently and efficiently, as well as collaboratively within a team. Strong organizational skills. Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Basic communication skills to interact with guests and team members. Inspect building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions prescribed by client. Perform assigned repairs, emergency, and preventive maintenance. Complete maintenance and repair records as required. Take the lead to troubleshoot and repair of buildings and installed systems to include, but not limited to: plumbing systems, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, and HVAC.
