Monday thru Friday (6:00 AM -2:00 pm) Strong background in working with individuals with Autism General Description of Duties and Responsibilities: Residential Advisor Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment which fosters growth and rehabilitation and facilitates the development of mutual aid/self help skills among individuals. Primary role is to provide professional leadership skills to each Residential Advisor, role model AIMEDs mission and core values. Maintain organized files, policies and procedures. Residential Advisor Supervisor is expected to recognize when an individual is in a crisis and be able to utilize the appropriate psychiatric and medical back up services. Specific Duties: Supervision of residential direct care staff. Responsible for scheduling and assuring that all shifts are covered. Responsible for program site management & supervision including upkeep of the home. Responsible to insure that ODP regulations, agency policies, residential and fiscal regulations are followed within the residential department. Prepare site for inspection and/or monitoring by County and/or State officials. Preparation of required or requested reports, forms, or correspondence. Directs the preparation and maintenance of such reports as are necessary to carry out functions of the department. Assist/monitor/teach individuals with preparation of daytime activities; encourage good personal hygiene, and behavior appropriate in their home or apartment. Assist in the development of each ISP. Staff behavior and interaction with individuals shall be directed towards the attainment of goals set forth within each ISP. Teach self medication skills according to ODP regulations, and when appropriate supervise in medication administration. Assist/monitor/teach individuals engaging in daily chores. Assist/monitor/teach individuals as needed in grocery shopping, menu planning, meal preparation and clean up. Meet with individuals (as needed) on an individual basis to discuss concerns, Assist/monitor/teach individuals in holding house meetings and informal discussion groups with peers. Handle emergency situations appropriately, (according to AIMED and ODP policies). Utilize crisis interventions when necessary. Perform daily record keeping (i.e. data collection, daily logs). Teach and be supportive of basic nutrition. Assist individuals to utilize community resources from nutritional counseling. Teach relationship building skills. Teach community integration; assist individuals in joining community organizations of their choice. Teach problem solving skills/resolving conflicts. Provide leisure/recreational activities of individual(s) choice, increase individuals self initiative in leisure activities. Teach/monitor individuals self management skills (in health and behavior management). Teach individuals basic first aid, fire safety, emergency skills and sex education, and/or assist individual in locating a class (community resource) in the above stated items. Provide opportunities for individuals to have choices, make decisions in daily living and their future goals (i.e. assist individual in day to day decisions). Assist in creating natural supports for individuals. Assist individuals in building their self esteem. Follow individual support plan consistently. Conduct and document monthly fire drills according to ODP procedures. Report any consumer (individual) abuse (physical, emotional, sexual) or act of omission to the Allegheny County adult Abuse line. Attend individual and inter-agency staff meetings related to individuals. Attend required training and complete mandatory ODP annual training. Implement OSHA regulations. Lifting, snow shoveling and climbing stairs. Available on call 24 hours a day. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: The minimum professional qualifications for Residential Advisors are a Associates Degree and/or one year of supervisory experience in Human Service work or High School diploma with at least 5 years of relevant experience. Must be 21 years old or older. Autonomy ability to work without immediate supervision. Interpersonal sensitivity (objective awareness of others, tactful interaction, ease in establishing limits). Reliability and flexibility Insight and the ability to articulate it. Strong background in working with Autism behavioral Valid drivers license and the ability to drive a van (Employees Only). Medication Administration Certification. Crisis intervention training (i.e. non violent crisis intervention, positive approach, etc) CPR, First Aid. Must clear ACT 33, 34 and 73 (criminal clearance).
