    Reporting to the Power Plant Maintenance Supervisor, the Power Plant Mechanic performs specialized maintenance duties involving welding, high pressure/high temperature steam, and water lines. Special emphasis for alignment, millwright, machining, plumbing, tubing, chemical or other special material applications. The incumbent performs various Power Plant maintenance and preventative maintenance duties to include all boilers, air pollution control equipment, pumps, coal equipment, liquid fuel systems, ash removal equipment, pneumatic equipment, all auxiliary and support systems as well as the steam turbine and generator. Duties also include general housekeeping and basic maintenance of work area. Ensures performance of duties in a timely manner and in compliance with federal and state law, university policies and procedures, and any associated regulations and guidelines. Overtime may be necessary due to emergencies and breakdowns. Required Qualifications * Journeyman level mechanic experience. * ASOPE Plant Operator 3rd class license or higher or ability to obtain within one year of employment. * Valid Drivers' License. * Previous Welding experience. * Ability to use hand tools, power tools, torches and welders. * Ability to use all types of micrometers, dial indicator and laser alignment. * Ability to interpret instructions and complete assignments independently or as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications * Previous Power Plant experience. * Previous welding certification. * Previous pipe fitting experience. * Previous millwright trade experience. * ASOPE Plant Operator 2nd class license or higher.
