    Job DescriptionEBD Services Project Manager, Mechanical Designer (3+ years) Employment Type: Full-time Schedule: Hybrid Salary Range*: $90,000 to $125,000 per year Role Overview: Qualified applicants should possess a basic understanding of buildings engineering and industry experience to consistently produce project deliverables that meet project requirements and client expectations. Work consists of entry level to mid-level design engineering tasks for the built environment including the design of all aspects of HVAC and plumbing systems supporting healthcare, education, aviation, and commercial vertical markets utilizing AutoCAD and Revit software platforms to produce design engineering drawings. Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Designer: Work collaboratively with diverse project teams and provide interdisciplinary collaboration across AE design stakeholders. Support and manage project expectations including project milestone delivery, design coordination and interdisciplinary collaboration. Provide mechanical and plumbing design through the stages of concept design to construction documentation. Perform construction administration services including contractor support of RFIs, submittal approvals and occasional site visits / punch walks. Perform calculations to support design decision-making as it pertains to code requirements and recognized guidelines. Create, draft and model design markups, schedules, site plans, specifications, details and diagrams in 3D and 2D modeling software. Demonstrated Capabilities: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, ability to work in a highly collaborative professional environment. Ability to proactively engage in creative and critical thinking. Understanding of electrical engineering concepts and the ability to effectively communicate ideas to both technical and non-technical project team members, using a variety of methods including email, phone calls, and virtual meetings. Knowledge of applicable codes and standards including NFPA 99, IFC/IBC, Washington State\Seattle Energy Codes, and FGI Guidelines. Understanding of Revit and AutoCAD, and the use of the software as a drafting and design tool. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SKM Power. Desired Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited institution. 3+ years of work experience. Prior experience in MEP consulting engineering field preferred. Experience in healthcare, commercial, aviation, civic, and higher education markets is a plus. Engineer-in-Training (NCEES EIT) a plus LEED accreditation a plus Experience with 3D modeling software including Revit and AutoCAD MEP. Work Environment & Requirements: Typical business hours are between 7 AM and 5 PM. At times, work hours will require off-hours work outside of normal business hours and may include work on Saturday and Sunday to meet project deadlines and support project requirements for clients with 24x7 business operations (typically less than 10% of the time). Travel required within the Continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada. Typically, 5% of the time. Hybrid office; Typically, 4-days in office / 1-day remote/work-from home. Initial 6-month period from hire date will be Full Time in-office (5-days per week). Work environment includes working with computers and remaining sedentary for extended periods of time while performing technical calculations and developing mechanical drawings/models. Field work which may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather and include transport and handling of sensitive electronic equipment of up to 30 pounds. Physical attendance to perform field investigation, attend in-person design meetings at client/architect locations. Using the SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD system and with minimal guidance, the Mechanical Designer will create/modify 3D models and prepare clear, complete, and accurate assembly and detail drawings (or revisions) from rough or detailed sketches, similar part drawings, or notes. This position requires strong technical skills, creative problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail to ensure designs meet our exacting standards of quality and functionality. Successful Designers will collaborate with the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering team to develop manufacturable solutions that uphold IDEAL's deep reputation for excellence. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Create and modify comprehensive 3D models and prepare clear, complete, and accurate assembly and detail drawings (or revisions) from rough or detailed sketches, similar part drawings, or notes • Evaluate technical requirements to determine appropriate materials, dimensions, and specifications for each component and assembly • Research similar existing drawings and evaluate their potential application to current projects to optimize design efficiency • Make drawing revisions as required based on engineering feedback and production requirements • Research and identify parts and part numbers using available resources to maintain consistency in documentation • Create finished designs from written or oral instruction; assure designs meet requirements specified in resource documents Apply technical knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure designs meet quality standards Use SOLIDWORKS CAD system and SOLIDWORKDS PDM for document and revision control Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while adhering to project timelines QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES • Five+ years of experience (preferred) performing similar duties • Associate's degree or equivalent from two (2) year college or technical school; or six (6) months to one (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Due to the sensitive nature of some projects, US Citizenship is required for this position • Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD and SOLIDWORKS PDM systems (other CAD platforms may be considered depending on level of experience and satisfactory evaluation of sample work) • Knowledge of GD&T and mechanical drawing standards • Experience with product lifecycle management and revision control processes • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, material properties, and design for manufacturability principles • Knowledge of various products, drafting and engineering practices, mathematics, and other physical sciences to complete drawings • Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written instructions, engineering specifications, and technical documents • Ability to write correspondence and other documentation • Ability to effectively present information to others in one-on-one and small group settings • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry • Excellent spatial visualization skills and exceptional attention to detail • Ability to manage problems involving several variables in standardized situations • Technical literacy with demonstrated proficiency in: .1.
